Re: How to Post a Video?

I don't think you can post a video on this site...just photos. If you are on Facebook, join the Hodaka Club or Hodaka Motorcycles group and post the video there, Then, instead of trying to decipher the knowledgeable responses from the wild a&& guesses, put up a post here asking for responses...

Only thing I might add is to insure that the countershaft sprocket nut is tightened properly and checked regularly for tightness.

Re: 96 dirt squirt tire recommendations

I dont know where you can find them, but check for a Duro HF313 tire. Their catalog list them in a 3.50x17 and a 2.75x19. It is a full knobby tire.

Re: Combat Wombat Enduro/Cross Reed Valve

There are still some of the DH reed valves and some GEM reed valves (which should also work) out there. I see them pop up on ebay from time to time. Also, if you are on facebook, go to the hodaka groups/pages and put in a request, you might find one that way. Also, check with hodaka-parts.com and Ca...

Re: tire suggestions

The wheel sizes (19" front and 17" rear) are what came on the chrome tank Dirt Squirt. The Wombat originally came with 21" front and 18" rear. As for tires, the 17" rear rim limits what is available as there are not many bikes that use that size rim (mostly just vintage bike...

Re: Howdy yall from Spokane

As far as an inexpensive silencers for your Hodaka, you could go real old school and get a exhaust pipe/silencer from a VW beetle. They had two (usually chrome) exhaust pipes coming off the muffler and these pipes were baffled. I remember seeing quite a few people using them on their 2 strokes back ...

Re: &#%@+ 250SL!

How tight of a fit is the c/s sprocket to the splines on the counter shaft? I have seen where a c/s sprocket from another bike was fitted and it appeared to be right, but the inner dimensions were just a little off. This resulted in not enough engagement between the c/s sprocket and the c/s splines ...

Re: 96 Dirt Squirt engine questions

Those primary gears would be from the model 93 or 93A Super Rat (the 93B used a 21/59 gear set). Which, with the transmission gears you have (the Ace 100 and the model 93 Super Rats had the same internal gears, just different primary gears) would be the same as a model 93 and 93A Super Rat. The Supe...

Re: 96 Dirt Squirt engine questions

The main differences are in the gearing, The Dirt Squirt had the same internal gear clusters as the Combat Wombat (which is also the same as the Wombat, except for the Wombat has an overdrive 5th gear) and it has a different primary gear set. Aside from that, the engines are pretty much the same. If...

Re: 03 Wombat fuel tank liner removal

I don't know the answer to your question, but if you are on Facebook there are a couple of groups on there that deal mainly with motorcycle gas tank repairs (all brands so a much larger audience). If you don't get a response here, you might post your question there.
Tank does look in great shape.

Re: Looking for tire recommendations for newly acquired CW

Just a suggestion, but the engine seals are now over 50 years old. You should do a leak down test on the engine and think about replacing the seals.

Re: New members Road Toad in Central Texas

The engine number falls in line with the ones for a model 99 Road Toad. Their engines began with # M-01001 and went up to around M-09000 (the model 01 Dirt Squirt started with engine # M-09001). If you go to hodaka-parts.com they have an extensive library on their site with all kinds of information ...

Hopefully others will respond, but from I have heard it is getting very hard to find a good source for getting things chromed. Also, the prices are going sky high (lowest I have heard was around $500 to $600; but also heard others getting quotes of $800+). If you are on Facebook, check out the Hodak...

Re: racing numbers

At first we used black electrical tape, but it didn't turn out too well. Later, we just bought ready made numbers from the motorcycle shops. It always helped if you had a number assigned to you. We would also bring along a few paper plates, clear tape and a black marker. Then, if someone needed to c...

Re: Hello again, 92 -> 95 gears?

For the short answer: Yes. You can put a full set (main shaft, counter shaft gears and kicker gear) of Ace 100 gears in your Combat Wombat. Now, a little longer answer. Pretty much any of the COMPLETE gear sets from the Ace 100 (model 92 - 92B+), original Super Rat (model 93 - 93B), the original Dir...

Re: Hodaka Q&A

Clarence, The difference between the Ace 100B clutch and the Super Rat clutch was the clutch hub. Ace 100B part # 924012A and Super Rat part # 934018 (the Super Rat's hub used high tensile steel for extra strength). The Wombat also used a different clutch hub, part # 944012. This was to accommodate ...

Re: Variations in VM20 Carburetor Ace 100/B/B+

To get the needle jet out, the main jet must be out (as it holds the needle jet in place). Then, you can usually use a soft drift to punch/tap it out (going from bottom, pushing it out through the slide bore).

Sorry to say, but your carb seems to be somewhat out of kilter. Your second photo, the one of the carb's throat showing the top of the needle jet (the needle jet is the entire brass part that both sticks up into the throat and that the main jet screws into at the bottom) shows the spray bar (the par...

Re: Thoughts on replacement pistons for the model 03 Wombat!!!

I don't know all the dimensions, but the connecting rod is (I believe) 95mm center to center, where the other 125's were 100mm center to center. The 03 Wombat also had a larger crank pin, big end bearing and the corresponding big end hole in the connecting rod was larger (but I don't have one apart ...
