Re: Case Reed 125 Hodaka Project

True that the resonant intake theory is not applicable to Reed valves ( so I’m told) Ed I believe you are correct as far as air movement that’s why I went with the widest pod I could fit, granted it’s not as wide as most flatter filters but it’s not far off . I’m pretty sure none of this matters too...

Re: Case Reed 125 Hodaka Project

Also on the go is a rebuild of the engine cases from V 1 of the case Reed design. I ran these cases for a year before I went to V2 that has the Reed block welded on to each half , it also allowed a larger Reed block. With the V1 redesign I’m making the Reed block from a KX85/100 fit so it’s slightly...

I also fabricated an alloy chain guide . I’m hoping this will allow me to remove the chain tensioner.

Re: Case Reed 125 Hodaka Project

Well after some constructive criticisms sticking in my head I dumped the airbox and made up a new design. This one allows a larger filter and reduces weight . I made a version with an aluminium mikuni “trumpet mouth “ and then a short while after I came across a 35deg reducing rubber elbow that allo...

Re: Trouble contacting Hodaka-Parts.com

Hi Edo I have some spare Hodaka shoes new . Flick me a photo and measurements, like wheel drum diameter and brake shoe width . Also post a picture of the one you have snf the one you need . I’m on the lookout for a 14 inch radius 1 inch wide shoe for a husky wheel. We may be able to do a swap . I’m ...

03 Wombat top end

Can anyone tell me what the difference is with the 03 Top end and a 97 apart from the port timing ?
For example Would a 97 top end fit and work on a 03 bottom end ?

Re: Case Reed 125 Hodaka Project

Ok I think I’m done now, at least until I find a money tree. I’d really like to make a Chrome Molly frame and have some modern wheels but that’s a pipe dream . I’m really looking forward to riding it in a couple of weeks time . It’s been extremely fun to do even if I admit to more than usual swearin...

Re: Case Reed 125 Hodaka Project

After a day of fabrication I have the silencer sorted out. It’s a DEP KTM125SX from 2002.I had to completely disassemble it , shorten 1 inch and put back together. You would think an easy job as it’s “ re- packable however DEP had bonded it so no amount to persuasion worked except the hacksaw. I hav...

I’d say yes use something.
I would use Permatex form a gasket aviation sealant

But as you see there are many ways to go about it.

I had the opportunity to make a adjustable pedal height for the brake pedal.
I think it’s worked well. Plenty of strength still on the footpegs mount as it’s solid not tube.

94 swingarm nut torque

Does anyone know what the recommended swing arm nut torque setting should be ? Not in my manual. I’ve noticed that when I tighten the swingarm bolt nut using what feels enough torque, the swingarm bolt pinches the rubber bushes and the arm binds , becomes springy. Noted without shocks fitted. To get...

Re: Case Reed 125 Hodaka Project

Ok I’ve done a bit of bracing in the frame area

Not pretty but functional. It’s a bit restricted in what can be done due to the seat mounting lugs.

Also attached is a picture of a Road Tiad frame. I can see what looks like extra bracing from the factory. I which I had seen that earlier .

Re: Kick start oil leak

Thanks guys, it’s about a drop an hour or longer. EZ turn isn’t something at the hardware shop . I’ll try blasting it with compressed air, maybe a bit of grit in the seal. I know it’s most likely an engine disassemble coming up.
