Does that hole go thru the piston? It is a center drilled hole used when manufactured.

Re: More 250ED questions
I have a reed valved ED 250 cylinder. I think Mike Perrett got it at Mid Ohio several years ago. I'll take pictures today if you like.

OK! I have a Super Rat motor number M10030. It is in a Early Dirt Squirt chassis. Does it qualify? I would love to get a free piston.

What is a EH Wombat motor. Is that someone's initials?
Now, does anyone have any info about a HP Products reed valve assembly for an ED250? My friend Mike P. visited last week and left me an ED250 cylinder with the reed valve attached. If anyone is interested I'll post a pic.

Vintagenut,
I guess the only thing I knew about my Rickman number was the following Z which I presumed was for the Zundapp engine. It has a similar shifting mechanism as the Hodaka engine. Thanks for checking. Sterling

Ed, You mentioned the 2 stroke oil smell. I love it. I use it in my weed whacker and other 2 stroke machines. I was at the local MC shop a few months ago. There was a small piston sized box, setting on the counter. It was a Klotz box with a candle inside, the owner said take it. I couldn't believe m...

Hello Vintagenut, I have a 1974 Rickman-Zundapp Enduro. Would you mind looking up the data plate number for me? Date 1/74 No. 1085 4Z. It has a MX engine (must have been changed). That is a beautiful Rickman you have. I remember seeing one at a Hodaka dealer in Oklahoma city in about 1970. Sterling

Re: Clutch won’t disengage
My suggestion is to drain the oil and replace with Mercon ATF. Ride the bike. The ATF has detergent that will loosen the clutch parts. I run ATF in all my Hodaka's. I own a Rickman-Zundapp 125. A famous German rider from Canada (can't remember his name) told be to use ATF in the Zundapp motor it wil...

Didn't Paul Stannard have a 175 framed race bike with a ED250 engine? I have a SL175 frame that has an ED250 engine that is a great play bike. The frame was given to me by Mike Perrett The engine has a Suzuki head (modified by Mike P.)

Re: ace 100 crankshaft flywheel die
Buy a metric thread file. If the threads aren't total destroyed it should work fine. Just use the correct size thread, there are 4 sizes on each end.

The piston on the left is the 03. The distance from the top edge of piston to center of wristpin is 35.5 mm.

Re: 34mm Steering Stem Conversion Pin Query
I don't know if this will help but the threads on my Hodaka 100's stems are 18tpi. I made a conversion on my early squirt to tapered roller bearings and the stem is 1.00" and the threads were 18 tpi. I would think his conversion set would be the same.

Mr. Thirdstone,
When you do the sleeve replacement, how much interference between the cylinder and sleeve? I am doing a 03 Wombat sleeve that requires turning ID and OD. I'm thinking .002 .003". Appreciate your input,
Sterling

This cylinder is 57.5 mm, that is what it took to clean up. As far as I know the maximum for Nicasil is around .008". I don't know about a ceramic coating. The centrifugal spun cast iron I bought is enough to do 2 cylinders. If someone would like to donate an 03 unusable cylinder for my experim...

Re: Alumiferic cylinder
What I really need to know is how much to take out of cylinder. The spigot diameter is 62.0 mm. The diameter of the iron left in the cylinder is 67 mm, so if I bore the cylinder out to 62 mm that will leave 5.0 mm total thickness, or 2.5 mm will be left on the OD. My original plan was to bore out al...
