Hello, I would like to remove a dent and paint my tank. Anyone have a good safe way to get the medallions off or know was used to put them on originally?

Thanks

Re: silencing the super combat

Thanks Shorty for all the ideas. That muffler looks good on your RD350. It would look good also on my Super Combat, and I might be able to get a spark arrester in their too. The spark arrester is very important for where I would ride this bike. With that in mind I found a super trap type spark arres...

Re: Hit the Dirt!

Shorty, I was in the very 1st group, but one of our riders had a breakdown out about 5 minutes, so we watched many pass us until he got going. Once he got going and so many had passed us there wasn't much point in fighting the dust. I didn't think there was any regard to ability because women and ki...

Re: Hit the Dirt!

I 2nd that motion! Like down in the canyon below the cabin rest stop. If I could help with that, I would. Probably wouldn't work because of fire danger the time of year HD's is held and riding on USFS or BLM would be stricter in terms of spark arrestor inspection too. I didn't pass the kid on the Ka...

Re: Year identification of Ace90 frame

Oregon keeps all records forever on microfiche. The last bike I tried to title(lost) has the plate and when they looked it up, the lien the bank put on the title was never removed by the bank, and I need a letter from that bank stating they have no interest in it. The bank was bought/merged with ano...

Re: silencing the super combat

I'll try to explain it better. It is soaking in gas right now and it is after dark so I'll have to take a picture tomorrow if I'm not clear. Picture a tube made of fine screen that is closed off at one end. One end blocked off totally, no screen. The other end of the tube is the exit of the pipe, it...

Re: silencing the super combat

I looked at the schematics again and it looks like the tube at the end of the pipe is open at both ends and you could then use the wrap. The screen inside my pipe is blocked so everything must pass through the the fine screens. If I tried to wrap those fine screens, I would effectively plug the pipe...

Re: Hit the Dirt!

Victor, I'm new to Hodaka's too, my son got me started. Speed is also a state of mind, you can think your going fast until you notice a line of riders behind you.
Hodaka's are fun little bikes and the people you meet on them add to the experience.

Re: Hit the Dirt!

The xr650r is definitely not a MX bike but it is made for offroad and desert/Baja, if you race. I think any bike qualifies as a dirt bike if that is where you ride it. I like the 4 stroke power band, it is what I'm used to. I stalled the Super Rat twice on Bad Rock when I let the revs get down a lit...

Re: Hit the Dirt!

I agree totally, racing is a mental state. I think the problem with me mostly is while I like to go fast enough to feel good on the bike, I don't like the track where you go round and round. Getting there 1st or last is not important to me except being out front means no dust. I have thought about r...

Re: silencing the super combat

It looks like the stock pipe. It has passed inspection at the last 3 Bad Rocks. It is loud at idle, really barks, it annoys me most at idle. We also have a 98 super rat, it is much quieter at idle. Maybe I can pack the end with steel wool or something but I doubt it will help much. That is why I ask...

silencing the super combat

Mine makes too much noise. It runs good, but I generally ride it only at Hodaka days Bad Rock because it is too loud for camping and trail riding, which is all I do. I don't race. Is there a good clamp on silencer? and can I leave the carb alone? I want to ride it more and it doesn't say it has an a...

Re: Hit the Dirt!

Whenever you ride, especially dirt riding, taking a dump is always a possibility. When I was young, trail riding was between hillclimbs and getting off the bike was the norm on those hills. Slow and easy is better for my old bones now. You may drop the bike more often going slow, but dropping it at ...

Re: Combat Wombat max HP or torque

Getting the power to the ground and using it is the formula for success. I remember Can AM had a 250 back about 1977 that made a huge amount of unuseable HP. I remember the factory rider refused to ride it. Black Widow. I have not ridden a Hodaka 90, but I have ridden a Honda 90 which my dad had. I ...

Re: Hodaka Days 2015 -- Done

Hi Darrell, I was hoping to see you this year. We didn't know which way you went, but with the lightning flashes and barely able to see, we got those bikes on the trailer in record time. I've never been so wet with my clothes on. Fire Hose from the sky describes it well. That sky sure was black when...

Re: Hodaka Days Done - Page Two

When you guys are looking out over that beautiful country do you envision or dream of a possible expansion of the current Bad Rock to include a trail in and out of that canyon? I've watched clips of the original Bad Rock film and those guys were wearing some heavy clothing. What time of year was it ...

Re: Hodaka Days 2015 -- Done

The Bad Rock has changed just a little bit from the original run. It is a leisurely trail ride now, at least by comparison. I was in the first group out and thought we could take the trail at a good speed(for an old guy), but before we got out of the roads just outside of Weston, one of the bikes in...

Re: Hodaka Days 2015 -- Done

Hey Arizona, Good to hear you experienced it! I've never done motorcross either, and while I thought I might try it this year the heat was just too much for me to last even thru Saturday. I'm not from Arizona so I couldn't take it. Next year it'll probably be too cold, or too wet, and I'll be too ol...

I like it, The Super Rat is my favorite Hodaka! Something about the name, and how the name stuck in the article is interesting.

The picture of the Super Rat in the grass.... what is that next to the sprocket on the rear?

Re: 125 Wombat gear oil?

When your too lean and the piston seizes it is your fuel to air that is too lean and this condition can't be solved by more oil in the fuel. The oil ratio controls wear but not seizures. That is how I have always looked at it in general. In a 4 stroke you don't have a seized piston when fuel to air ...

Re: 125 Wombat gear oil?

What I meant by designed was more like engineered to run at 20:1 because of all the oils available back then, adequate or proper lubrication could be received with 20:1 and if you did use a higher quality oil at 20:1 all the better. That is my opinion today... if the lesser or lower quality oil ran ...

Thanks Shorty, The schematics show the sprockets but the choices don't say what is original. I'm guessing if we order the sprockets and chain we will get the correct length of chain.

combat wombat chain and sprockets

My son is looking to go back to the stock sprockets but can't seem to find that info. Does anyone have the tooth count for the original front and rear? Then he needs the right number of links. Thanks
