Re: Combat Wombat Enduro/Cross Reed Valve
You could relocate the intake manifold bolts and install a late model Hodaka 100 or 125 reed valve assembly. Might need to do some port matching and would use a spigot mount carb.

Super combat 4.jpg Better picture attached. Not Singh groove or anything related. Much more going on here. 100cc Road Toad head. Combustion chamber re-designed and machined for 125cc Combat / Super Combat engine. Late model 100cc heads share the same bolt pattern and casting as the Combat / Super C...

Re cutting the combustion chamber to a more modern design yields great results at modest cost.

Re: Gas tank
I have used Advanced Plating and they do an excellent job. Show chrome and expensive. Its been a while since I did any fuel tanks. Usually I would clean the tank interior to make sure no leaks or pin holes. Pulled any dents and shipped to Advanced ready for their plating process. Once tank is return...

You could install a 125 Super Combat engine. Might be easier to find or piece together.

Re: Gasket
Link to the anaerobic gasket maker. Comes in a small container same size as most threadlockers. The small container is more than enough to seal the center cases. A large tube is also available. Sold at most automotive parts stores. Interestingly, only the sealer that is trapped between the case mati...

Never tried, but thought about making bushings to press into the crank pin bore.

Re: a oil injection question
Plastic part locks the cable in place. Tried to find an example in my parts stash but no luck. Might be brass but I remember plastic.

Re: Help identifying parts
Having second thoughts about the cylinder head. Head might be from a late model 100. Easy enough to find out. Measure combustion chamber diameter.
125 = 56mm.
100 = 50mm.

Re: Help identifying parts
All the late model heads had the second digit blanked. Same head casting for the mdl 97,98,99 and 03 Wombat.
03 Wombat was the only Hodaka with that intake port arrangement.

You would have to use the 03 piston. Or, use a modified crank to use the 97 rod and piston.

Re: Needle bearing removal
I use a small toaster oven and heat the case to 325 degrees. With the bearing opening facing down while heated, it will likely fall out by itself. If not just drop the case lightly on a wood surface.

Re: 03 motor/piston question
The crank pin on the 03 wombat is larger diameter than the crank pin on the Road Toad. The Road Toad and early 125's crank pin diameter are the same allows swapping the early 125 rod for the Road Toad's.

Re: Model 97 - Finally getting started
03 engine is a totally different animal. Crank, cases gears MOST parts not inter-changeable with other models. The 03 cylinder head gets very little respect but the combustion chamber shape / lay out is prefered...at least by me.

Re: Cylinder bore how to measure
Victor, I like the basic 436 Starrett version micrometer with carbide faces and 10th scale. Micrometers measure in 1 inch lengths and the one used for the 125 bore is a 2 to 3 inch. I think you would need a 1 to 2 inch version for the 100 bore. I bought all my micrometers on ebay. Micrometers are ei...

Cylinder bore how to measure
Measuring an 03 Wombat cylinder and took some pictures to demonstrate process and tools used. More sophisticated tools are available but basic quality micrometer and telescoping bore gages can get the job done. DSCN3237[1].JPG This is the kind of job that you need three hands. Micrometer holders / s...

Re: Gas Tank Cleaning Question???
Hey Vic,
Do not use Kreem tank sealer. Not a very good product in my experience. Caswell makes a decent epoxy sealer but that tank would need to be cleaned way better than that if a sealer is used.
Try some lacquer thinner first. Might break down what ever that residue is.

Re: Hodaka snap ring tool
Al, 1. The counter bore depth is slightly greater than the thickness of the retaining clip. You want the tube end of the tool pushing against the clip retainer. 2. The counter bore diameter is slightly larger than the clip when it is at maximum expansion on the pin part of the tool. 3. The recess in...

Re: Hodaka snap ring tool
The working end of the pin is 5mm the same as the end of the control shaft. The over all length of my tool is 1/2 inch shorter than the original tool. Preference on my part. This is one of the original batch of tools I made for Strictly Hodaka. No extra ones available at this time. Danny Cooke DSCN3...
