03 motor/piston question
03 motor/piston question
It’s said use a Road Toad crank with a 94/95/97 rod & a 97 piston. Can’t you use an 03 crank with a 94/95/97 rod & a 97 piston? Since both cranks have the starter gear, why is it necessary to use a Toad crank if you just change the rod & piston? Just asking for clarification. Victor

Re: 03 motor/piston question
Don't have the answer but here is a pic of an 03 crank on the left and a Toad crank on the right.
Re: 03 motor/piston question
The crank pin on the 03 wombat is larger diameter than the crank pin on the Road Toad. The Road Toad and early 125's crank pin diameter are the same allows swapping the early 125 rod for the Road Toad's.

Re: 03 motor/piston question
Thank you Danny,
That explains why you can't just put a 94/95/97 rod on an 03 crank (different size crank pin). I had asked before (maybe not on this site) if there was a difference and never got an answer. Your post clears that up. Thanks again.
