Re: Ace 100 B+ won't go into 4th gear

Someone’s going to say it so, if you don’t have a manual buy one. There is a procedure for gear engagement adjustment in there.

If you’re not going to make the investment, which you should, because you have 3 hodakas. Pm me and I will send you a pic of the page.

First one is free.

Re: Over it, spark issues

Ordered another kawi condenser. Since I had results. Just need to figure how to mount it lower. Then it’s out of my hands and off to Greg if that doesn’t work. My patience is high, but it’s reached its level with this one.

Re: Starting the Wombat Combat!

Man I had a hell of a time till I found this. Granted one time I bought vintage tubes and didn’t know the valve stems were loose and thought I pinched them. 😂😂. I’ve been helped greatly in here. Nice to finally share. 🤙😎✌️

Re: Starting the Wombat Combat!

Put the valve stem in first. Start there. Might still need your irons but point is you have no risk of touching the tube. The beads are pressed together like one bead I guess you could say. Put the ties on each side of the valve. I know there’s a video helps picture it. I’ll poke around. Hope that h...

Re: Starting the Wombat Combat!

I gleaned over this. But looks like tire mounting woes. I had a heck of a time finding and putting tires in my 69. Ended up with Michelin moped tires. Anyway pinched some tubes with irons. A moped buddy told me this technique. Work for me maybe someone’s done it. Inflate the tube a bit, put it in th...

Re: Over it, spark issues

Thanks so much guys. I’ve relaxed a bit 😂 Gave Greg a call. I know this system is reliable. I’m going to give one more try with the kawi condenser because I had great spark, it ran, and the issue was obvious. I’ll just have to work around the height issue. Otherwise I will send it off for a refurb. ...

Re: Over it, spark issues

Please advise on that.

I’m going to buy one more condenser. Then I’m selling everything I don’t need and buying a pvl. So HMU with inquiries.

Re: Over it, spark issues

Thanks Al, I’m going to order another condenser try one more time. I know it’s a condenser issue. I just have stuff piling up, (I repair vintage switchblades), got a break line out. I’m just sick of doing the same shit over and over. Ruining parts, getting bad parts, used parts, parts that don’t fit...

Re: Points/ condensers

It worked I just didn’t realize it was too high until it was too late. Not sure how to modify it to sit lower. The mounting bracket on the condenser is low resulting in it sitting high.

Over it, spark issues

Hello, I’ve been dealing with this too long. Rebuilt my 71 b+. Must of got a bad batch of condensers. Because I had spark. Then no spark. Checked condenser top popped off. Same on second and third. Victor sent me a kawi one. Great spark couldn’t get it to start. Friend came over for moral support go...

Re: Points/ condensers

Victor I emailed you. But I used the aforementioned condenser and it worked getting spark. I finally found time to try and start. Which I did. My friend saw sparks coming from my stator so I shut it down. Turns out it was sitting too high and hitting the flywheel. So I’ll have to order another.

Re: No spark!!!

Rooting for you. As it so happens, I had my b+ project fired up for the first time last night. I was so pumped. It was late and in my house so I retired for the night. Today nothing, no spark. Absolutely did nothing but turn the key. I reset the points, same. Had to walk away and do some other things.

Re: No spark!!!

Definitely worth checking out. Getting that layer off is crucial to a good solder joint. The other wires could be making the bond. When I helped a friend wire guitars. I got in the habit of doing this to the pick ups because they had a layer of lacquer on them.

Re: B+ clutch pressure piece

Victor I’m a regular at Ace there’s one right by my house. Ivan that might be the case. I knew it felt tight but I was trusting the torque wrench. Then I felt it give. It threads on and tightens(not sure to what lbs) just not sure I trust that even with the washer bent.

Re: No spark!!!

It’s a black wire bolted to the right side of the battery box. Wondering if someone added it or if it’s stock. I have nos condensers that work for the 100 if you need one. I can confirm it running in my 69. After you rule out ground.

Re: B+ clutch pressure piece

The crank threads are fine, the nut threads on pretty tight then slips. I suspect it was over tightened in the past. Yes the red flag was man this is way too tight it should have clicked...slip... I have a harbor freight close I’ll have to pick one up. I couldn’t find a nut locally so far.

Matt apparently the torque wrench I had doesn’t click going counter clockwise and stripped my nut. :x
