Re: Mdl 94 Wombat Rebuild

WOW!! Thanks everyone. I will try a Wombat cookout once I get a chance with the weather around here. A little nervous with open flames around here until we get just a bit more rain. I really love this group of owners, everyone is so willing to help with the knowledge they have gained. In response to...

Re: Mdl 94 Wombat Rebuild

Alright thanks guys. I think after all the comments I will start with seals all around and wait for a real need to do a complete rebuild. There are no leaks and the "wet" side of the motor seems good. I will take a look at the exhaust and both wheel hubs. Last question for now, would I be ...

Re: Mdl 94 Wombat Rebuild

My concerns are centered around the seals in the lower end and she seemed to bog when pulling hills. I thought starting fresh I would then know it was all in good shape. If others experience has shown a full tear down is not needed then by all means I am good with moderate work.

Mdl 94 Wombat Rebuild

Ok this is a question that could get many answers. I received my Wombat from my father earlier this spring and after doing some basic clean up I rode it to work nearly every day and for a few joy rides. The mechanical work was mainly rebuilding the carb, replacing the non-existant airfilter, and lub...

Brian,
Absolutely correct, I should have written "Metal Rescue".

How could I forget one of the most important items? :o Thanks for the reminder Maxie.

These are original miles. There is a minor scuff on the face that I plan on lightly polishing out.

Thanks everyone,

94 Wombat Photos

Well it took me a little longer than intended but I guess life will do that to you. As promised photos of my newly acquired model 94 Wombat. My father bought her brand new and now I have the pleasure of owning her. I decided to leave the engine, exhaust, wheels/tires, and forks on but removed the re...

Re: Lots of leaking petcocks..

It sounds like in your situation the valve lapping compound used in moderation should help the body and lever parts of the petcocks mate up.

Re: Lots of leaking petcocks..

Is the petcock not shutting off or is it leaking where it meets up to the tank? I would think that a little valve lapping compound used on the internals might help the surfaces mate up and stop leaks. I recently took mine apart and was able to use a little elbow grease and a medical rag, nice to hav...

Welcome aboard!

As a fellow newbie let me suggest joining the Hodaka Club and if you have any questions ask away here on the forum. I have found there to be tons of knowledge.

Thanks Danny, that's what it looked like. Now that I look again I do see the pewter paint on SH, will have to pick some up for a future teardown.

94 Wombat case color

Well I have tried the search function to find my answer but I can't seem to figure it out cause no matter what I put in not having any luck. Working on the newly aquired '72 94 Wombat and while the tank soaks I'm cleaning up the rest of the bike. While wiping down the engine it appears the cases wer...

Spokane Area Bike Show

Will the club or anyone have a Hodaka showing at the Spokane Bike Show this weekend (March 13-15, 2015)? I was thinking of going to it Saturday as it is supposed to be raining and was hoping I might be able to get some good bike "porn" and/or meet some fellow owners. What can I say, I have...

Re: Dusting off a Wombat that has been sitting.

I am understanding more and more every day why Hodaka is the bike to ride, it's not just a great bike but an awesome group. Thank you all for the great information. I can't wait to meet some of you at HD hopefully this year with or without my bike. Todd, what can I say but thanks and nice try lol. I...

Re: Dusting off a Wombat that has been sitting.

Well it's close enough to spring, the Wombat is coming home this Saturday and the fun will really begin. I have come up with another question regarding the fuel cap. Mine is black but I have seen white ones that appear to be on model 94's, did they come with either?

The bike is all 100% original and I don't find it that loud but currently living in town I'm concered I may wake the neighbors. I may just try it and see if anyone says anything.

Love that sound

Ok I do love the beautiful notes that come out of a model 94 Wombat but not sure my neighbors will at 5:30am when I am heading off to work this summer. Does anyone have any suggestions of how to quiet it down a little without any permanent/destructive effects? I want to be able to keep her stock loo...

Re: Dusting off a Wombat that has been sitting.

Thanks Brian,
I joined the club a few days back and am currently wading through all the info I can find. I'm hoping to make it to Hodaka days this year, lucky enough to be 3.5 hours away. I've always been a fan of the Hodaka but I had no clue how many others were.

Dusting off a Wombat that has been sitting.

My father has offered me his Wombat, he has been the only owner. I was able to look it over today and it is all original, in really good shape considering the age. After looking at the ID chart I have verified that it is a 1972 model 94 Wombat 125. The bike was put away somewhere between 20-25 years...
