I use glass beads. Cleans them up very easily without damaging them.

Re: lousy customer service
I havent done any restorations since my wombat about five years ago. Paul and Bill Cook were a big help on getting the right parts. I remember back then Bill telling me he was getting swamped with phone calls that would take up way too much of his time to run the business. When I started getting ema...

Re: Need some help to I'd exhaust
That's not a Hooker pipe. The hookers are kind of a flattened oval shape. I have one hanging in the shop. Looks nothing like the pipe in this pic. Here's a pic of one on a Hodaka I found on Google.

There's a clamp on each side. They fit over the curved flange where the toolbox sits. Pretty straight forward.

Re: How to spoke a road toad?
I've respoked quite a few wheels over the last forty plus years. Nothing Hodaka makes is that tricky. I had an old husky wheel that had me stumped for a bit, but other than that, your a Road Toad wheel shouldn't scare you off. If you get a new set of spokes, separate and identify the four different ...

Re: Help to ID a Bike Model
1963 corvette, Interesting thread. Just wondering, is the bike you are trying to ID presenting itself as a super rat, or a B? If I remember from the last couple of hodies I restored a few years ago, the coil mount is different between the two, and the rat didn't have the two arrow shaped tabs to hol...

Cool video. Looked like a fun Track. Couple more horses and you would have had the Beezers for lunch!

Re: Need help starting after rebuild
Is there anything plugging up the exhaust? My modern bike that I ride (Suzuki rmz250) doesn't like to fire after I give it a bath and forget to take the rubber plug out of the exhaust. Won't even pop.

Re: 94 Wombat case color
Danny's correct. The outer cases were the pewter color that Paul S sells. I bead blast mine, wipe em down with prepsol, than I spray with a light grey primer, followed by Paul's pewter paint. The inner cases weren't painted as far as I can tell. I bead blast them, wipe them down with prepsol, then s...

Bryan ,
Get yourself a workshop manual for your bike if you don't have one now. Extremely helpful and well written.

Re: Love that sound
Record about five minutes of a big barking dog. Then blast it over your stereo pointed out the window for 7 days prior to the first day you will be riding the bike. Don't play it on the day you ride the bike. Your neighbors will be so happy the damned dog stopped barking that they won't even notice ...

If I have the motor down to bare cases, I throw the cases in the glass beader and it cleans right up without hurting anything.

Never tried to save them when removing. I normally replace with new, they're not that much money. Sometimes they come out without to much force.

Re: Pulling that Pesky Main Shaft Bushing
Max, Did you ever try the trick with filling the bushing with grease and tapping the end of the main shaft into it using a non marring type hammer? Pops right out like magic. It's either in the manual or one of those tech tips on Paul's site. Can't remember where I read it, but it works great. Mike ...

Max,
I was given a road toad a number of years back. It came out of a barn and was painted the same shade of blue. I took it all apart and its stored away for now.

I have an old turn signal beeper from a Honda four that I attached a couple of alligator clips to. Works just like a buzz box but was free.
