Ace 100 B+ Tool Box Question
Ace 100 B+ Tool Box Question
I have a decent tool box in good shape. I know it mounts behind the battery box. Is it just held in by friction or something else. I really don't see how it mounts. Thanks in advance again for your comments and assistance and replies! ; D Victor

Have you looked at the schematic? http://www.strictlyhodaka.com/Parts-List-Q-s/2056.htm

Re: Ace 100 B+ Tool Box Question
There's a clamp on each side. They fit over the curved flange where the toolbox sits. Pretty straight forward.

Yes Bill. But the tool box floating below in the picture gives no indication to me. Remember, this bike is new to me and I recieved it fully disassembled. So do the bolts in the chrome bands bolt into something on the frame or battery box? I understand how it mounts to the chrome rack on my Wombat, just don't see where it connects on the Ace. ; D VictorHave you looked at the schematic?

Re: Ace 100 B+ Tool Box Question
The tool box fits up against the curved surface of the frame. Note the tabs on either side of this curved surface. The 2 clamps fit over the tool box and these frame tabs. Here are a couple of pictures that might help.

Re: Ace 100 B+ Tool Box Question
OK! Thanks to Greg & Dale, I found out where it connects. The bands on the tool box grab the tabs on the curved frame mounts which it fits against. Simple once you know what and where. Not so simple if you don't. ; D Victor

Re: Ace 100 B+ Tool Box Question
That looks good Victor. Glad you got the mounting figured out.
As for the foil and water, I like to use that method too and have found that adding a bit of baking soda to the water will help cut the tougher spots. I have also used vinegar rather than water with good success. After the polish, I put a small amount of quality penetrating oil on a rag and wipe it down. This keeps the small pitted areas from rusting back up.

Re: Ace 100 B+ Tool Box Question
I've even heard some folks say use Coca Cola instead of water & the acid in it cuts through the rust! Never tried it, but the water seems to work fine for me! I'll consider the baking soda next time too! Always have plenty of that on hand! Penetrating oil eh? I'll have to try that! ; D Victor
