Re: Mike's Big Ride 2

Mega Congrats to Mike on yet another amazing Hodaka adventure. His 2008 ride on his 175 from western Pennsylvania to Hodaka Days was, in many ways, the inspiration for my own ride from Philly to Athena in 2011 aboard my own 125 Wombat. On the second day of my ride I met up with Mike in Clarion, Pa a...

Re: The future of Strictly Hodaka

Paul, When I wandered into the Hodaka community in 2009 it was the warm welcome from you, Patti, and others that encouraged me to stay. The various interesting things I've be able to do with Hodies would never have been possible without your support. Respect for whatever you decide to do going forwa...

Thanks for all the interest!! Pretty busy working around other commitments to get this thing finished for Hodaka Days. However, rest assured, you'll see a full-on Resonator story with lots of pics, build info, and answers to most of the questions that have been posed soon after HD2016.

Harry Taylor Daytona Road Racer - to debut at Hodaka Days in just 2 months!!

After two years of research and build, my project to create a museum quality replica of Harry Taylor's Daytona winning Ace road racer is coming to fruition. As if you needed another reason to attend, the bike will make its public debut at Hodaka Days - exactly two months from today!!! This tribute t...

Re: Looking 4 hard-to-find parts for the Harry Taylor Road R

So I've got some news to report on the switch mystery. The Hodaka racing parts kit catalog shows the switch that I was trying to source and mentioned earlier under part number 918750R. Interestingly, the (obviously hand drawn) graphic in the book shows a wiring pigtail with 3 terminals. Seemingly no...

My hat's off to anyone who tries to do any ride like you propose. Plus, you could be a candidate to get your name on this: http://jackb1.smugmug.com/photos/i-ns44zxW/0/M/i-ns44zxW-M.jpg The majority of Hodakas ever built had lights and horns, at least somewhat suggesting that they should/could be dr...

@dirtsquirt80 True enough. The elusive battery box has surfaced less than an hour from home. The Hodaka community comes through once again! Thanks so much Scott!!! @AndyL Thanks for your search and input. Hopefully something good turns up. @Hodakamax Yup. That's the bike! Replica build well under way!

Re: Looking 4 hard-to-find parts for the Harry Taylor Road R

Andy, Based on what I've been able to learn, The "stock" Hodaka switch assembly (908750C) had a three position switch at the end of the unit opposite where the wire harness entered. Then on the side it had a momentary contact button for the horn. Four wires in all, no info on harness lengt...

Re: Looking 4 hard-to-find parts for the Harry Taylor Road R

@ Mike - The piece I'm looking for could very easily be an adaptation from some other production part (ie Ace 90 Lights/horn) with just a change to the wiring connectors/pigtail or something like that. If I can run down the appropriate piece that visually looks the same I can manage necessary change...

In the meantime I found a better pic of that race kit ignition switch. Check it out.

Looking 4 hard-to-find parts for the Harry Taylor Road Racer

I'm on the lookout for a couple of hard-to-find items needed for replica I'm building of Harry Taylor's 1968 Daytona Road Race Winner! Both parts are items that were listed in the Ace Racing Kit Parts List. First- pn 918750R Kill switch. Crappy picture attached. Second - pn 919040R Battery Bracket A...

Re: Hodaka History Mystery. The Harry Taylor Road Racer

Jay, Thanks so much. This helps a great deal. It does, however raise a couple of additional questions. The Hodaka Ace (both 90 and 100 as best as I can tell) had the forks on about a 148 mm spacing center to center- 5.82 inches and that's just a bit shorter than what you measured for the Yamaguchi. ...

Hodaka History Mystery. The Harry Taylor Road Racer

As some of you may know I've undertaken a project to create an exact replica of the Ace that Harry Taylor rode to victory in the 100cc Sportsman Race at Daytona in March of 1968. I have access to a number of photos but without a real bike to scale from and (sadly) no Harry Taylor to consult with, so...
