Re: Help..hodaka wombat wont start after rebuild
Thanks guys..I will try all those and get back to you..When I put the carb on the first time it did run with the pipe off, I will try that again.. I put a tiny bit of 2 stroke oil in the cylinder when I put the piston back in so I might be fouling the plug. This is my first vintage build so please ...

Re: Bogging down
Its important to know at what throttle position the seizure happened , such as 1/2 3/4 full throttle then you would know what circuit of the carb needs tuning. If it happened between 1/8 and 3/4 the needle position or size along with needle jet size would be where your attention should be , if it h...

Re: Bogging down
Does the piston have a cast-in or stamped arrow on top? If so, it points to the exhaust side. Take a look. Verify the piston was installed with the arrow toward the exhaust. I guess I have just never seen a 2-stroke piston with the ring gap forward. Unless it is just the photo that makes it look th...

Re: Engine haves torque ?
Some of your torque values are listed in the Model Specifications found on the Strictly Hodaka web site. Select your model under the "Shop By Schematics" and then select "View Model Specifications". If you don't find all that you need there, please ask again. Like I said I was a...

Re: Bogging down
Just for grins, slip the ring into the top of the bore, square it up with the crown of a piston, and measure the gap with a feeler. Just curious to know what it was or what it would be now. If 0.009" which I believe you said it was set to, it shouldn't have jammed. Still curious to know if the...

Re: Bogging down
Hey Taz, on the Strictly Hodaka site under FAQ, there's a brief guide to Mikuni tuning. You will see that most of the mid-range is controlled by the position of the needle jet by the position of a clip on grooves on the needle. A higher groove selection lowers the needle into the jet,(leaner) and l...

Re: Bogging down
Taz in your first post you stated when you opened the throttle the engine bogged, or was it a flat spot a delay. If it were a flat spot or a momentary delay that is the sign that you are lean on the mid range. If that is the case then increasing the main jet is not going to help. I start with large...
