High Idle - dies
Newly rebuild 93A with stock carb. Had alot of trouble with this carb "loading" up when first starting bike. Everyone here gave great advise. So I cleaned and cleaned on carb- no difference. Then I'm thinking, these are just passages, so I replaced float bowl and got the jet back in banjo b...

Re: intake manifold
As I read my post- I see someone that wants to throw money at a problem to make it go away. Bullfrog stated " (especially if that mod is what you need to get the machine running in the first place)". Was the mod what I needed? Hmmm. time to look again. Fresh bearings, seal and top end. Guil...

Re: intake manifold
Bullfrog, I have intakes from a dirt squirt and a road toad. But as Joe said "Power is lost and found by trying new and at times strange things." I have a Spigot mount setup from Hodaka parts on my combat Wombat and it has been great. I should just source a wombat/combat wombat intake. Any...

Head gasket leak
So, I noticed some black oily on the top fin of cylinder of Combat. looks like head gasket may be leaking. That's just a guess on my part. Can I just retorque head? Pull head and install new head gasket without disturbing base gasket? Replace both gaskets?

Re: 93a super rat
so after all this time I finally got my leak down system? made, lost pressure about as fast as pumped in. Leaking on seal on clutch side of crank. I'm so glad I did that! So I took cylinder off after that. Does anyone have a port drawing of a 93Acylinder or is there another way to tell if its the co...

93A rat
What you suggest for a carb upgrade on a 93A? Not wanting to go reed valve, not a full out racer, just want good running bike without the oring issue and whatever else is wrong with my carb. Maybe the 24mm carb saving is my best choice?

Re: 93 super rat carb
So ... I got the Super Rat to start, ran really rich, main jet screwed in where oring usually is. I think gas is still getting by jet. Is this carb worth buying all the parts to rebuild? Would I be better off to purchase a new carb and convert to spigot mount?

OK school me. To check the timing on a non running bike would just be checking point gap at the second (left) mark?

93a super rat
So I picked up a fairly complete 93A super rat. Hadn't been started for a couple of years (maybe because it wouldn't start). I redid some electrical connections and got spark, cleaned carb (twice). Still not even a pop when kicking. Screwed in my old hose style compression tester. Looks like 105 on ...

Re: Hodaka experts needed
Back with more information, I put new shifting springs in my bike (that was a major victory for me), new clutch plates and did the "blueprinting" of the clutch. Assembled it on a drill press so I could make it work. I never knew a Hodaka clutch could work this good. Now back to the miss- I ...

Re: Hodaka experts needed
Ok, I may have misled you with my "still the same" I did not do a plug chop with all the jets, I just tried bigger jets to see if it would help with the "breaking up". I will get more plugs this week and start with a 190 and work down to see what happens. I am at about 650 feet o...

Re: Hodaka experts needed
I messed with the combat today, cleaned air filters and tried 2 different air filter oils, no change. Put a 190 jet in it, no change. Did a plug chop, looked good. Tried a 180,190,200 and 210 jet. Same with all.Still sounds like it's breaking up at high RPM and I could go more. Checked exhaust and i...

Re: Hodaka experts needed
You guys ask tough questions, but I know I am going to replace springs on control shaft, first time in bike! Then I will do complete carb teardown, cleaning and jet verification.I'm also going to check exhaust pipe. I will do some plug chops (B8HS)and will get back with you then. Thank you!

Re: Hodaka experts needed
Okay, I do try to "snick shift" but have stomped also so I will install new springs and see where that goes. The motor porting is stock,no reed valve, stock bottom end. I did put a spigot mount 28mm carb from Hodaka parts before season. It has stock jetting, I have run a 190 main jet also....
