Ace 90 Front tire size
Ace 90 Front tire size
hi all, I am looking for advice on what front tire size to go with on my ace 90. I think stock front is a 2.50-17 however mine has 3.50-17s on it front and rear. my fender wont fit with the 3.50 17 on it so i need a smaller tire but i feel a 2.50 17 is gonna be a bit small with the over sized 3.50 on the back. would a 3.00-17 be too big for adequate clearance on the front or would a 2.75 be a better choice? or is stock the biggest we can fit? the tires are shinko dual sport 244. thanks.
Re: Ace 90 Front tire size
The Ace 90 came with a 2.50 x 17" front and 2.75 x 17 Rear. A little too skinny for me, so I have a 2.75 x 17" on front and a 3.00 x 17" on the rear and I think it looks great. The rear tire is maybe a little big for the fender, albeit very slight, but the front tire fits great.

Jake,
Did you have any problems with rubbing toward the front of the bike with the oversized rear? I did, had a 3.00-17 on the rear but that may have had to do with a wonky 40 year old tire, it was rubbing on the chain guard. Also, did you use a bead lock on your rear tire? I keep tearing valve stems, but that again probably has more to do with a 40 year old tire than anything . I heard that not putting the outer nut on the stem helps with breaking during wheel spin, but I'm assuming a new tire would solve the whole problem.
