A Toad with OHMS
Is there any data on the ohms rating for the 99 Toad magneto ignition coil?

I don't think I like where this is going!!!!
Mike, don't forget I have the parts toad, I'm sure it has a coil on it still.

Mike, the Toad exciter coil should be the same as a Wombat (94) - and the specs are in the Official Workshop Manual.

I do not have the workshop manual for the 94. Wish I did.

Get the manual! Its really the only one available which isn't just an owner's manual. Worth every penny! Victor

. . . and I can't get to my copy of the Manual right now, so I can't post the specs. Sorry 'bout that.

Re: A Toad with OHMS
Regarding the exciting coil, per the Wombat Workshop Manual, resistance from end to end of the coil winding wire should be 2 to 2.5 ohms +/- 10%. Resistance from any point of the wire to the core should be infinite. In other words, if there is any current passage from the wire to the core, this condition denotes a "short to core" and the coil is defective.

Mine tests at 2.5 ohms.

. . . does not "short" to the coil core? If that is true, you should be good to go.
