The fact that it is on top doesn't make it the first thing one reads. I read everything else first, mthen looked at this foolshness. Sorry to have bothered the old farts on the forum with ideas not their own.

It's a Sticky. That's what they do. Which is why we need folders.

Re: Who does crank rebuilds?
I have seen side to side clearance on the rod lower end, but not a loose fit by any means on the main crank bearings. Cold, they have a technical clearance, but it is in the hundred thousandths range. The seal surfaces might be repairable with a sleeve but I have never worked with them, so am not su...

Re: Crankcase Screws
Filling with epoxy: I won't say it wouldn't work, but sounds more likely to raise problems rather than fix them. First, there are two cavities that mate to make one larger cavity. The damage is to only one half of the case, but involves both halves. You would either have to fill both sides or fill o...

Re: Wombat Spark Problems
I was wondering if the spark plug coil is wired in reversed. Does the coil have the polarity reversed ? Doubt it. Far as I know the voltage produced at the stator is AC. Not to mention that there are positive ground vehicles in the world. Negative ground DC systems are a convention not a requiremen...

Now you know why I look at the wiring diagram before working on the bike. Can't remember wiring colors from day to day.

Re: Why does my carb slide stick?
Vic addressed the question of the cable being the problem when he says that when the slide is stuck, the cable end can be seen dropping free of the slide when the throttle is closed. The problem is probably something simple. It could be as simple as missing the rubber gasket/washer at the top of the...

Re: Checking for spark without key
Bottom line is, yes you can, but you have to disconnect the ignition switch by unplugging the ground wire. Might be easier to follow with a wiring diagram. If I remember right, the blue wire is ignition, black I'd ground. Others may confirm or correct this.

Which model tube did you use for patterning and sizing the meter holes in the tube?

Re: 100B v. 100B+ spec sheet
Sounds to me like the assembly line built bikes with the parts provided on the day of production. If Hodaka did not visualize any of their machines as belonging to a given "year" of production, perhaps they didn't make much of a distinction between "models" either. If today's mis...

Re: 100B v. 100B+ spec sheet
That would be because the B+ started with 51713. The magazine description of the improvements to the 100 is for the 100B. The only improvement I can no longer verify is the resettable speedo. I may have a photo of my original bike somewhere here in a box, but it would take days to find. My best reco...

Re: Inner Fork Tube Restoration
The staked on lower bushing, in fact, has to come off to rebuild new tubes. I believe you will find the new tubes don't come with a Hodaka bushing already installed, unless Paul has gone out of his way to have them built that way. The tubes I used a year ago to rebuild my forks were from Forking by ...

Re: Center Cases, to paint or not to paint?
Lustrekote is said to be model fuel proof. Models use a blend of methanol and nitromethane, and frankly no paint likes to have such chemicals in prolonged contact. Models are wiped down after every flight, and the paint is good enough for that. I never had issues with model airplane paints, but of c...

100B v. 100B+ spec sheet
For what it is worth, the website supplemental spec sheet for the 100B shows specs for the B model (92) but the photo on the spec sheet is clearly the 100B+. High fender, single rear sprocket with six bolt attachment are visible in the left side shot. Specs list the dual sprocket that was used on th...

Re: B+ improvements?
The 100B and 100B+ used the same frame and swingarm, and as near as I could tell setting B for butter forks next to later style B+, the overall length as built is, if not the same, exceptionally close. Ride height is the same between models and shocks were the same. Wheels and tires were the same. I...

Re: B+ improvements?
The adjustability of the forks up or down is not a feature of the forks. It is dependent on the top clamp of the triple tree. Even those with the ridge which stops upward movement of the tubes can be modified in minutes, but unless setting up for trials or adjusting both front and rear ride height t...

Re: B+ improvements?
My 100B had the low front fender, and non-cushioned hub. Can't say whether it had a reset odometer, but I doubt it. Frame prefix was the same as the 90's, Ace 100's, and B+. I think motor prefix were he same as well between these Ace models. Have to refer to the spec sheet for stock primary numbers....

Re: Close ration gear set p/n 201402
All of which makes sense, and is why I suggested such a gear set might be a pain on the street. First isn't low enough to use without MX final gearing, and fifth will only get you to 40 if first is low enough to use. I do like the splined shaft design, but for general, non-race use I would source a ...

Re: Close ration gear set p/n 201402
The numbers seem to me what you said, tall on the bottom, close on top (or reasonably close). Which would make them a pain for street use. Guy I worked with back in '75 had a Yamaha 350 (TZ?) road racer we took to the 1/8 mile drags. Took forever to get the clutch all the way out but then it was a b...
