Re: Hodaka Days Photos Scramble

I would like to give thanks and appreciation for all those great folks that donated their time and efforts and anything else they did to make this past Hodaka Days a fun and memorable experience. It was HOT! and I for one know it wasn't an easy task, I would also like to give thanks and appreciation...

Re: 250SL rear brake shoes worn, but actually not.

I have run into this situation with a few Hodakas and other vintage bikes. Check the fit of the brake actuator shaft in the bore of the backing plate. Often the bore fit of the shaft is a contributing problem. It can be re-bushed. In some cases I have brazed up the cam to increase it's width, then u...

Re: Ace 90 project completed!

Dale I think you did the right thing. It's a "survivor" I think most of the restorations are better than the OEM in appearance which personally am not impressed with. What you did is the way it survived, it's not a new bike but runs like new.

Re: New Hodaka owner has questions

Remove flywheel, remove counter sprocket, the cases on Hodakas I have opened up thousands of them and have yet to use any sort of case separating tool or device. They are not an interference fit like some other brands. After all the outer items are removed from the left side of the cases and the cyl...

Re: New Hodaka owner has questions

Yes it's old"all Hodakas are old now" no big deal. engines are simple "a manual is mandatory for new owners" study it and read through it. Get an idea what's happening when you shift. Freshen the engine up, service the shift cover "flywheel cover as per the manual" pull...

Re: Ignition Mixing

You might also consider that the 90 and the wombat stater frame are retained by different size screws? 90 5mm wombat 6mm. The outer diameter frame may be just a bit larger O.D. than the 90. The taper on the 90 crank "flywheel side" is smaller than the wombat flywheel. This can all be made ...

Re: Restoring Memories

I love the issue of "shifting problems" my favorite problem to solve. So many Hodakas have been parked, scarped, sold or given away because of shifting problems. This is so easy to fix or improve upon. I still here it all the time "Hodakas! man they don't shift for beans" Gosh! I f...

Re: Part Questions

The clutch cable adjuster should come with a new cable. The early ones were 6mm and the later ones are 8mm, the clutch cover can easilly be converted to the 8mm. If you are making your own cable from scratch the 6mm adjusters are available from several sources and yes Flanders may very well have the...

Re: Down pipes for ACE's?

Circle-F is a good source but they make the coupling at the cylinder head same as the model 98 super rat. We have converted them. In the old Hodaka Bulletins there was a plan for a down pipe for TT. In the old days we would just take the completed bike to a local fellow and he would fabricate the pi...
