Re: Noob questions re: '76 Wombat

Regarding the fork seals. I have found draining the fork oil and adding new oil sometimes does the trick, the oil breaks down and gets very thin overtime, and water can seep in there as well. Unless they are obviously trashed. Good luck. And I had a sticky clutch on my combat wombat, loosened up aft...

On Any Sunday, Next Chapter

I was watching a Surfing Event at Cape Fear on TV and saw an advertisement for "On Any Sunday, the Next Chapter" in Theatres Nov 7th or was it 17th.
As a fan of the original and Dana's "Dust to Glory" I look forward to seeing it.

Re: Leak from left side of engine 94a

Finally got a deep 26mm and 2 seconds later I had it torqued up and it seems to have done the trick. Now something I hope isn't a problem. After a great ride yesterday I decided to change the gear oil. I had been using Belray, but since getting laid off I decided to go the ATF route. So I drained, a...

Re: Leak from left side of engine 94a

Yes me too, buy it once, use it once. I went to 4 stores nobody had one. If I pull off the air cleaner the crescent will probably get it, but I'd like to torque it down, but I don't see a spec in the manual.

Re: Leak from left side of engine 94a

I took off my side cover today to find my leak, and my sprocket nut was also a bit loose, could rock it with my fingers. I could see oil swamping around the washer lock nut and the control shaft seemed dry, so I'm guessing that is it. Flattened down the lock washer and now wondering how I can tighte...

Wow, what a great place to ride. All I have is State Parks with loose rocks, ruts and roots, rarely 3rd gear.

Re: Leak from left side of engine 94a

Glad you brought this up, same issue just came up on my 94a, haven't looked yet (too many broken things, etc) but now I have a head start, let us know what you find.

Re: Carb cleaning time

I have seen the stubbies for sale at Harbor Freight, maybe I'll pick some up thanks.

I also found a new filter I bought a while back, metal, cleanable-unscrews, porous stone like material, going to give it a try, will probably drain the carb before every ride.
Thanks folks.

Re: Carb cleaning time

Good advice MTRob, I took a wrench I found in my pond that was very rusty, looks like a Craftsman, no idea what size, filed it out to a 13mm, was close anyway, then about 1/3rd of the way up the handle I ground both sides about 3/16ths in. Works good, since the torque on the nut isn't much, it shoul...

Carb cleaning time

94 Wombat
Time to clean the carb on my Wombat and I just remembered what a PIA it is to loosen the right side nut without removing the pipe. Sometimes I can get it in baby steps turning the wrench one way, then the other, not this time. No socket will fit on. Any tips?

Re: Electrical question about my Wombat 125

From the Manual Wombat 94. Not my advice, but the manual is where I get my advice, worth buying from Strictly Hodaka. Coil Winding Continuity 1. Connect one of the test leads to each end of the coil windings (be sure that neither end of the coil windings is touching the coil core). If the light bulb...

Re: Spark Plug

I was once read the inventor of the "Split Fire" plug created a newer version and was getting 30-35 mpg in his big block 4 barrel Chevy, but they never hit the market. Why? I would think after all this time there is room for improvement, I'll try it.

I like that idea Arizona Shorty, would you have to drill thru the pedal arm to hold it in place?
And yes the duck tape on the pedal is not a great idea.
Thanks.

Re: Brake pedal mod? CW

Here is a quick fix that will probably be ok for a couple of rides until I come up with something better (wish I had a welder) Took a piece of sheet rubber, folded it over to about 3/8 thickness, clamped it to the peg, cut off excess clamp. Safety wired it down, although it feels very solid and is c...
