Re: Road Toad Green Plastic Front Fender?

That is how mine looks. It is almost like Hodakas are 7/8 scale motorcycles. Everything that can be bolted on from other bikes seems a tad too big. Like it is out of scale.

How to spoke a road toad?

I have been looking for some instructions on how to lace up a road toad wheel. The conical hub is different than the standard hub models. Anyone know of any resource?

If not, I will have to find a pic of the wheel and futz around.
Thanks to anyone in advance.

Re: Hoducka Hodaaaka saying it correct

Here it is in Japanese:
3 syll. ho-da-ka, hod-aka ] The baby boy name Hodaka is pronounced HHOW-D-ahKaa- †. Hodaka's language of origin is Japanese and it is also used mainly in the Japanese language. The name's meaning is 'tall ear of grain'.

You could include a Hodaka Tip of the month on every page as a blurb? Maintenance or whatever?

Hodaka lists the 16T sprocket in the parts list and uses a 428RK chain. If these are the right parts, something else is wrong.

Re: Model 97 Clutch Cable Adjuster

The Parts Compatibility Chart shows all the model 92s, 93s, 94s, 95 and 97 have the same part number but of course doesn't show the size. All the other models seem to have the adjuster made into the cable (but probably the same size thread.) I will check in the shop shortly and get back to you. I j...

Re: Coating a tank with POR-15

I have a '72 Wombat tank that's been chromed; it looks great on the outside, but the inside has some rust. The tank is leaking (it's minor, but it is leaking) along the seam on the right rear side of the tank. I spoke with someone today about tig welding to repair it. This is someone who does a lot...

Re: '73 (94A) Wombat skid plate needed

Based on the schematic and asking a few folks, there is no stock skid plate for the bike. A Road Toad plate workaround was suggested and I've seen a few '76 plates on ebay but mine doesn't have tabs to bolt to for that plate. Yeah, I could make one out of something but would like to stick with a Ho...

Re: standard piston size

Assuming you have measured the bore with reasonable accuracy, it sounds as if your cylinder is already bored out as far as it will go. More than forty thousandths anyway. Converted inches to millimeters, 0.040" is 1.016mm, which would be around 51.2. Add a few thousandths for clearance on the ...

Re: HT3 Pipe Question

Check that, if the pipe is solid in the manifold AND the collar has slipped out then the pipe is a tad too long or the collar is too short.

Hello folks, Super Combat with an HT3 pipe installed (last season). I recently noticed this collar slipped from the manifold and onto the pipe. Seems like it used to fit nicely… IMG_6604.jpg Has anyone run into this before? Any ideas on how to solve it? Pipe is mounted nice and solid, no play at th...

Is the ace 90 cylinder the same as an ace 100 but with a smaller bore? I have an e code ace 100 that needs a new cylinder and a friend says they have an ace 90 cylinder I can have. I was wondering if I could bore it to accept the ace 100 piston. Thanks in advance for any help. The parts list shows ...

Max, Now I am confused. The schematic of the Super Combat shows the bushing and not the caged needle bearing. And the pictures I posted yesterday are of my Super Combat. How about a little help here. Did the SCs have both kinds? Go here and this is the schematic I see: http://www.hodaka-parts.com/9...

Re: Pulling that Pesky Main Shaft Bushing

I don't know how accurate the original manuals were. I remember looking at the Workshop manual and the super rat part of the manual shows a helical cut gear when a straight cut gear was really used. Maybe someone who has a super rat engine with a bushing can chime in? It is a small mystery.

Interesting. I thought all Super Rats had the needle bearing? I have never seen one without one (except if it is not a true Super Rat engine case).

Here is the download for ACCESS runtime engine:

Should allow an ACCESS database to run without ACCESS installed. I have not tried it but worth a shot.

Re: 76 Road Toad (02) - Workshop manual?

I have restored a 93 Super Rat, 98 Super Rat and a 1972 Wombat to date. I will be finishing all of them (minor details on each) this fall. I have a total custom Super Wombat project that I started and am shelving for a while. The very last Hodaka project will be a 99 Road Toad. I think I will write ...
