Re: 96 dirt squirt tire recommendations
Thank you dirty rat I found them at a place called TripleClamp Moto in Toronto, ON Canada. $166 with shipping. From what I can see in the photos I think should look good and work well. I’m getting a start on this project. I will be picking up the overhauled engine from Ron Liddle on Tuesday. My goal...

96 dirt squirt tire recommendations
I am working on my 96 Dirt Squirt that I picked up at Hodaka Days this year. I am looking for tires that will somewhat match what was on the bike originally. Original tires were 2.75 x 19 front and 3.25 x 17 rear I’ve been searching some and I’m finding the selection in these sizes to be limited. I ...

Re: 96 Dirt Squirt engine questions
Thanks guys. I think I will use the gears I have. I will be taking the engine to Hodaka Ron in the next few days for him to work his magic. Ron has a set of cases with the correct Dirt Squirt numbers that we will use. In the meantime I have started cleaning up parts and preparing for painting. This ...

Re: 96 Dirt Squirt engine questions
Thanks dirty-rat
I was able to confirm from the info you posted that the gears 1-5 are ace 100.
What puzzles me is the primary gears, I’m counting 17-63.

96 Dirt Squirt engine questions
I picked up a 96 Dirt Squirt at Hodaka Days and l’m getting ready to get her fixed up. It got it as shown in the picture. Pretty complete except missing cylinder, head and carburetor. I picked up a good head and cylinder at Hodaka Days. The engine number that came with the bike is P-53289. According...

Re: Dirt Squirt model 96 rims
Thanks guys. I like the idea of the fun smaller bike. I already have a Wombat and a modified Road toad. And some other non Hodaka stuff. I am comfortable lacing my own wheels. I have used some of the spokes that come out of Asia through EBay. They were ok, correct size and bend. I’m not sure about t...

Dirt Squirt model 96 rims
I picked up this 96 Dirt Squirt at Hodaka Days. It was missing cylinder and head and pipe which I was able to find at Hodaka days. The wheels are 18” rear and 21” front. The rims are not in great shape, fair amount of rust and pitting. I would like to replace the the wheels back to the stock 17” 19”...

Modified Road Toad
Hello everyone, I was bored so I decided to make a little video of my modified Road Toad. Hodaka Ron built this bike for himself a while back. Ron called it the “Load Toad”.I bought it from him a few years ago. All I have really done to this bike was paint it. I know, I know it’s not the correct Roa...

Hodaka Days camping
I got the email about Hodaka Days listing all the services available in the area. It listed camping options but did not mention camping at the school.
Does anyone know if this will be available this year.
Thanks,
Bob

Re: Zinc plating kits…
I bought the Eastwood kit and was not satisfied with the results. I found it to be whiter than I wanted and would rust fairly quickly. Followed the instructions then tried different lengths of time and even different voltages and never really got the results I hoped for. Just my opinion, maybe other...

Re: Super Combat stuck swing arm
Yes Victor the swing arm moves on the frame. The bolt is stuck inside of the swing arm. I have had stuck swing arms before but I’ve always been able to get them apart eventually. This one is winning the battle so far. I have tried lots of penetrating oil, heat, big hammer, sweat and cussing but it w...

Re: Super Combat stuck swing arm
I did try penetrating oil. I will try applying heat next. Drilling seems like it would be the last resort but if that’s what it takes then so be it.

Super Combat stuck swing arm
I have a Super Combat that I trying to remove the swing arm. The bolt is stuck inside the swing arm and will not budge. I have wracked on it with a big hammer to the point of destroying the nut but absolutely no movement.

I now see the 4 hole intake in the Other photo.
Is that a reed valve setup? That might explain a different carburetor.

Re: Back to reed valve jetting on a Super Rat
Victor,
A regular timing light works just fine on a two stroke. Mine requires 12v so I just connect to a jump battery. Buzz box or ohm meter is even easier. I have tested with a light after setting with the buzz box and it has always been spot on.
