Re: base gasket leaks
I did take the reed out and discovered the gasket was split but I know it wasn't prior to that. I'm pretty sure I sprayed heavily around it. So right now I need a new gasket and then I can check on some of those other things. Thanks for the all the advice, Ed.

Re: base gasket leaks
I did use teflon around the studs on the flange and I smoothed out the washer on the cylinder bolt that was leaking. Both seemed to do the trick.

Re: base gasket leaks
I got the small leaks fixed too but I still don't have a passing test. I've sprayed around all the critical spots multiple times and can't see or hear anything that would indicate the pressure loss I have right now. Not sure where else to look? I"m almost ready to stick the motor on the bike an...

Re: base gasket leaks
Danny, thanks that fixed my leaks around the base gasket. Still a slight leak from one one of cylinder bolts and around carb flange studs. But that took care of the big ones. Thanks!

Danny, how long after applying and torquing it a down do you wait to do any kind of leak down?

Re: base gasket leaks
The only other thing I noticed was that little hole in the center of the case halves actually goes all the way through the case. Is that normal?

Re: base gasket leaks
Thats a good question, if it's right in the center then I guess it could be the case seam? Do I need to tear apart and re-seal?

base gasket leaks
So I finally tried a leak down test on my 01 today and it went miserably. The base gasket has two primary leaks pretty much in the center of the front and back. Not sure where to go from here. I'm assuming i have some sort of warping going on? Where should I go from here? Can I try doing anything wi...

Re: Clutch question
Don't be afraid to try the Type F, when I was having similar issues I did everything at once, pinion bushing, washers, type F, so it was hard to say which one really helped. I also engage the clutch when I'm warming up the bike. Give that a try also. Might help. Good luck, hope it pans out once you ...

Re: Clutch question
The blueprinting seems like a hassle but it really isn't. I wasn't keen on doing it either but I just did the clutch on my 01 because I had the time and it's fairly easy. Just take your time. It still wouldn't hurt to replace pinion bushing and thrust washers to eliminate them as a problem. Hodaka's...

Re: Clutch question
I had similar issues for awhile. Once I changed the pinion bushing and started using type F gear lube it seemed to remedy the problem. Could also be getting hung up on the clutch cage if you didn't do the proper filing. I forget what they call it but there are instructions on how to clean up your cl...

Re: oil injection
I'm a bit aways from testing the pump but I will check back in on the thread when I do. Thanks for the tips. Do they seem to smoke less then bikes that aren't oil injected?

Re: oil injection
Thanks guys, that's is good info! The 01 I plan on riding a bit more and trying some trial stuff so it will see more action then the rat in that department. I guess my plan is to make sure it works correctly and go from there. Appreciate the feedback. It seemed like previous post were anti pump.

Re: Victors Combat Wombat Thread!
Looks good Victor, I will be painting my 01 soon so I'm looking for a black that I can use without using a separate primer. Is that a good choice for motor covers too or do you need something that is rated for higher heat? I might stick to the same color scheme for the motor as I did with my rat so ...

oil injection
Just wanted to see what the consensus is on motors with the oil injection feed. I would like to see if it works on my 01 when I get things put back together, but even if it does am I better off just using premix? If it doesn't work or I just decide to use a premix what do I use to block the pump off...

+3 stamped
What exactly is the +3 stamped on the cylinder mean. Does it have any relevance to the size of piston used or rings? I'm clueless on this stuff.

01 pivot bolt siezed
So just got about 90% of my squirt disassembled and I got to the pivot bolt on swing arm and the thing is seized up to the swing arm. Will heat do the trick? Any one else run into this? Don't want to beat on it too bad and make it worse.

Re: Leak down
Ed, yeah I didn't even notice those. That is where my homemade gasket was. Now that I think of it I took the photo before I switched my set-up. Prior to that I had it set up differently and was wondering where I was losing air because at that point I was right around a minute pass/fail. I switched m...

Re: Leak down
The test was done anywhere from 6 to 8 psi. But mostly 6 and then timed. In one minute it only lost about 1/3 psi.
