Re: New Home for my Dirt Squirt

That is true.....Good sense prevailed, I think, but at my age and condition I thought it best to remove the temptation of going out and hurting myself trying to keep up with my grand-daughters on their off-road motorcycles and quads. I'm still trying to be active in off-roading with my off-road tube...

New Home for my Dirt Squirt

I just wanted to let you guys know that my pristine Dirt Squirt went to a new home today. All parts and spares went with it. I have enjoyed being a Hodaka owner but I needed to make space for other projects in my garage. I've enjoyed the group and everyone has been very helpful with help and informa...

NorCal Motorcycle show

Several months ago someone posted about a Hodaka show in Northern California. It might have been in Susanville and been part
of another event. If it hasn't happened yet I would like to attend and take my Dirt Squirt. Anyone have any info on this.

Re: Anyone build Expansion chambers???

Check my post "Need help identifying parts-please" and the are pictures of a Torque Engineering pipe on there. I still haven't made time to see if it fits my Dirt Squirt. I'm reasonably sure it fits a Hodaka of some sort and could be made to fit most with the pipe down the right side of th...

Re: welding cylinder fins back on

My only experience in welding cast iron was on a Chevy cylinder head and we had to get the head red hot. In the long run it was only marginally successful. This was 50 years ago and I'm pretty sure that things haven't changed that much over time. My best friend and son in law are both first class we...

Re: Need some help identifying parts....Please

dirty-rat, My Dirt Squirt is a 73 model 96 (I think) and does have the cast iron cylinder with the sleeved nut that the pipe slips into. The Torque pipe is made with what looks like the exact same nut on it but it is a flanged pipe. I've got to take a trip next week but I shall soon find out when I ...

Re: Need some help identifying parts....Please

There is a possibility that the pipe is for an Ace 100. The guy who had it had an ACE 100, the 73 Dirt Squirt and another Hodaka but I have not been able to find out what it was since it is now sold. He rode the Ace on a regular basis and it may have been on it at some point in time. As far as trial...

Re: Need some help identifying parts....Please

I did a little eyeballing on the Torque pipe today and it looks like cutting off the flange nut and welding a new stub on it could be made to fit my Dirt Squirt. The u-bend on the pipe is more than 180* so it would take a little customization to make it work I think. I still have the stock pipe on s...

Re: Need some help identifying parts....Please

This pipe looks like it would go right on my dirt squirt. I have never had one of these but it doesn't look to be all that complicated to try this on my
squirt but a little hesitant on removing the flange nut without messing the nut up. Is there any trick to removing the nut?

Thanks Doug

I did notice a catalog number on the pipe of "2-124"

Anyone have an old Torque catalog tucked away??

Need some help identifying parts....Please

Guys, I am helping a friend out who lost his brother last year and was a rabid collector of '70's motorcycles. These are a couple of parts that he had in his shop and I think the pipe may be Hodaka since it is very close to the pipe on on my 73 Dirt Squirt but the connection at the head appears to b...

Re: What's It Like Where You Are?

Here in the San Francisco bay area it is going on 8pm and a balmy 44 degrees out. Not raining yet but we are supposed to get upwards of 6" of rain this weekend.....lord knows we need the rain but not all at one time. Hopefully it will leave lots of snow in the Sierra's which is where most of ou...

Soda Blaster

Has anyone used one of the soda blasters like Harbor freight carries?? The video's show it to be a non-destructive method of cleaning parts without making a huge mess. My Dirt Squirt has a Webco head that is rather dirty and nasty looking between the fins. It is a luxury tool but I have lots of thin...

Re: Can't get my jug on

I was reading this subject and not having done one of these in 50 years but I think a rubber band keeping the pencils from spreading might be a helpful addition to your tuning fork idea. This reminds me of installing the barrels on to the pistons in the VW stroker engine I built a couple months ago....

Re: My first Hodaka

In my youth I raced motorcycles and tore my knee up years later when I was raising a family. Livelihood took priority and the dirt bike sat and was eventually found a new home. I was introduced to rail type dune buggy and decided I couldn't fall off of it so that has been my off road vehicle for the...

Re: My first Hodaka

Today my Dirt Squirt came to life for what I would estimate at least 10 years of sitting. I have never seen a foam air filter that just disintegrated at the slightest touch along with several key rubber parts associated with it. The intake boot and the air cleaner seal also fell to old age so they a...

socal, that might be a possibility. I doubt that I would be racing at my age but you never know. The show would be more my speed. Any more info or website on this?

My first Hodaka

Just wanted to share a couple pictures of my garage find Hodaka Dirt Squirt that I took delivery on today. It is a 7/73 model and appears to be unmolested and in original condition. The only change is the Webco cylinder head and compression release but I do have the stock cylinder head in addition t...
