Re: Stuck Carb

Had a similar issue due to mouse urine...very caustic stuff, ate away part of the carb body and slide....slide was very corroded and stuck....if it is that stuck once free the slide and the carb body will probably be toasted...it may be best to save your effort and find a replacement

Left Side Case Question

I have a 71 Rat motor and the left side case is pretty trashed..welded, broken etc...not a good candidate for a restoration...the right side case is ok...will a P or E series left side case be usable with the right side M?...I always thought the only difference on the bottom end of the rat and the A...

Re: Exhaust Leak on Red Toad

RTV does not dry hard...no issue with future removal...it just takes up some of the room between the worn exhaust flange and the worn header pipe and seals it better...when you take the pipe off you can easily remove the silicon and reapply when refitting the pipe...don't over apply...you usually do...

Re: Exhaust Leak on Red Toad

Victor...if it's leaking where the pipe slips on put a ring of RTV around the inside of the header and slip it back on the exhaust flange..put your springs back on and wipe off any excess..let it cure for a day or two and you will be fine...the pipe and the flange just don't have a good seal...often...

Swing arm compatability

Seat Pan Revival

I got a lead on a 71 Rat while at the York PA swapmeet...well it's in my shop now...as of today I'm planning on it being a rider. A few usual issues, roached out fork tubes, bent swing arm..broken fin on the jug  ...seat pan..well take a look. My plan is to sand blast it first..drill the cracks...

Super glue will fill them nicely also...i have seen some pretty big gouges in fork tubes from falling on rocks smoothed out and filled with SG and sanded with some fin grit....no leaks afterwards

Great Weekend in York PA

Spent two days with my fellow Hodakaphiles at the Potomac Vintage Riders annual Show and swapmeet in York PA today. Stu, Roger, Rick and myself set up and manned the booth. LOTS of traffic at the booth. Hodaka is alive and well in the North East. Many Hodaka owners stopped by to inquire about parts ...

that may not work if the transfer ports or the exhaust ports are not covered...I had to do this a few months ago on a Husky motor that was stuck...soak the top and bottom of the piston for a few days in PB blaster. Lift the cylinder off the case to spray the bottom of the piston. Take a piece of a f...
