Rat Crankcase

Hello,

I need to replace my Left Side Crankcase on my Rat. The p/n stamped on the engine is 921001-1 and 2 BUT the PN in the Book is 931001.

Are these the same parts? Why is the PN in the book different than what is on the case itself? Is this because of the Serial Number being different on the Right case?

Thanks,

Bob

Hi Bob - I just pulled a bonafide set of Rat cases off the shelf - both sides are stamped with 921001-02
As you know, the right case countershaft bushing is bored for a needle bearing - of course an Ace engine would suffice, but you'd have to use a brass bushing instead (and that wouldn't be right!). An Ace left case should mount up fine
Hope that helps

Laurie,

Thanks a bunch. Left is what I need - to recover from a violent chain toss that ripped of all the mounts for shifter cover. Right is good so this is a perfect deal. You have confirmed what I thought to be the case.

Thanks!

Bob
