Model 95 Exhaust Mounting

Post by rdbrooks14 »

All,

Does anyone know where the two springs shown in this diagram actually hook to?

http://www.strictlyhodaka.com/SearchRes ... p?Cat=1945

Item 72 on the diagram. I just do not see any holes in the frame or a tab to hook them on...

Probably obvious, but not to me.

Thanks in advance.

Hey Bob, I may be doing it wrong, but I always hook them to the holes in the frame gusset (there should be some on either side of the shock mounts). The hole you choose depends on whether the shocks or mounted straight or forward.
They have survived many miles that way for me.
Hope that helps,

Hey Laurie,

How are ya! I looked at that and it makes sense. There is nothing in the book that I can find and I was just wondering if there was some OFFICIAL place the Brilliant Engineer at Hodaka decided was MOST Proper! Perhaps the Captain knows the official technical spot. If not, I am going with what works for you and makes sense to me!

;-)

Here is something that worked good for me on the Combat Wombats for the pipe clamp springs. Find a thick fender washer and drill two holes a little larger than the spring dia. on one end, three quarters to and inch apart, about three sixteens of an inch from the edge. You may have to enlarge the center hole of the fender washer so the threaded section of the pipe clamp mount will go through. With the nut and a lock washer on top of the fender washer against the frame, those springs won't move around and pop off the frame gusset. Richard

Another awsome suggestion!!!!!!!!!!! Makes sense too! I was looking though the manual thinking there must have been a bolt on tab or something in the original wisdom that went in to design...
