VIN vs Frame #

They are the same, correct? The VIN # & the frame # are identical, aren’t they? :ugeek: Victor

Yep, unless the vehicle has had a different vin# assigned. Some states will do that if there is no documentation and someone is trying to reg it, but they'll usually pull off all other tags or identification. I just reg'd my "Odd 90" and they took the frame #as the Vin and in CA they want the engine # too just to make sure you don't swap it for a "gross polluting" engine. There's an idea a Hodaka with a diesel engine.

The frame and engine numbers are not the same. Not once have ever seen. --------Clarence
