I have an early Model 93 MX (frame # B46966) that I just began tearing down for an eventual restoration. The engine befuddles me...The case numbers are M3856 which tells me they are 93Mx cases...the cylinder head has 922501 part number on it which tells me its an ACE 100 head. The cylinder doesn't have any part numbers (just says 98cc)but there is a VM2000 carb bolted to it which tells me that also is an ACE 100 cylinder. The top end was evidently done in the past because it has a 2 dykes ring piston in it..I'm assuming the very early 93s did not come with an ace top end and the original 93 cylinder, head and carb were replaced with ACE parts?
thanks
Bob

Re: ??Early Model 93 motor??
Thanks my suspicions were correct then as they cylinder i took off has a 2 bolt 20 mm intake.....the PO put an ACE cylinder, carb, and head on the 93 cases after they fried a top end...I should have recognized that difference from the parts diagrams..
thanks

Bob, I think I have a cylinder in my storage unit. I won't be able to look until next week.
