black rims?

Post by turbokh »

Just wondering.. I'm going to lace some new wheels for one of my combat wombats. I had a KX250 that had black excel rims and looked pretty cool. how would black rims look on the Hodaka? I'm NOT concerned about resale value.
Has anyone seen it done before?

Steve Mitchell did it and it looked real cool with a black tank.

Black rims and hubs, nice shiny spokes, the way to go.

Wasn't there a Hodaka Days raffle bike a few years ago that had black rims?

There was a HD raffle bike with black rims. It was a model 94 Wombat put together by Danny Messmore. It was several years ago... maybe 2008 or 2009. I think Dave Decato was the winner and I seem to recall a picture of it hanging in his office?

I think it makes the tires look fatter.

Call me a traditionalist if you like . . . but motorcycle rims should be wood, chromed steel or plain aluminum alloy color.

I agree with AZ. Black rims make the tires look fatter. Not a look I would go for, but that's just me.
