MX at Unadilla, NY
Is anyone on the East Coast planning to be at the Unadilla MX races in New York the weekend of June 6/7? I was going to try there at drop off my bikes for transport to Oregon.

Going to Unadilla, NY next weekend. There is CC, MX and trials. Anyone going besides Throwchain and myself?

I will be there on Saturday either riding a Super Rat or my Super Toad. I would enjoy meeting you guys.

Re: MX at Unadilla, NY
I would imagine we'll walk around the racer parking looking for Hodie riders, and other interesting bikes.
Re: MX at Unadilla, NY
It should be easy to spot that van, I will definitely look for you. I got the Super rat running pretty well tonight so I think it will be the mount of choice for the MX. I will bring the Super Toad as a back up just in case. The 100cc Expert class looks like it will be well filled this year. I'm getting excited! I think I attached a photo of my Toad from last year.

Nice picture of the Toad in action. What size carburetor are you running?

Brian,
Believe it or not I have the stock carb on the Toad. The only real modifications are the HT2 pipe, a Super Rat small rotor CDI, and a high compression head gasket. I had to gear it way down to pull the gap between the gears on the big uphills at Unadilla.
The Super Rat is a very special bike with a lot of modifications and fabricated parts. We are running a 32mm carb on the it and a PVL with a HT3 pipe. It is heavily ported. It has been a bear to jet correctly with the big carb but now it seems to be very close. The jetting is very sensitive to minor variations in temperature and elevation. I'm hoping I have it right for Unadilla. Thanks to Paul for all his input and help and the opportunity to ride this bike. These 100's are a blast! If I don't do well it's not the bike's fault.

Re: MX at Unadilla, NY
Thanks for the info Ivan. I'm running a 28mm on mine, but the engine has been ported to Super Rat spec, and I have a Super Rat head. It's laid up for the time being until I can get a new piston and some upgraded cush drive rubbers (I'm having problems keeping third gear from failing).
I'm still using the points ignition, but I'm curious; what kind of improvement did the CDI make?
Regardless, they are a darn fun bike to ride!

I really like the way it runs with the Hodaka CDI. It's a simple bolt on and with the light flywheel it revs really quickly. I also run a lightweight Cheng Shin 755 4.10-18 rear tire (very close to a 3.50 in width and diameter) with the lightest tube I can find. It definitely makes a difference.

The Super Rat ran great at Unadilla! The trophy presentation was almost as much fun as the racing!

Ivan, that's a mighty large smile you're wearing there! That says it all.

Thanks Paul! Max I think my face is a brighter shade of pink than Trish Dowd's shirt in the photo. (By the way the hot trophy chick in the pink shirt is John Dowd's wife Trish.)

Brian Miller and Jerry Allison did well there. Here is the link to one of Jerry's rides.

That's Chicago Jerry scoring the ride. Met Teddy Landers and Fred Guidi as well.
Here are some photos for Saturday. I don't know how Jerry did in his final motos. He was 6th and 2nd in his first 2. I left at about 3:30, Saturday, so I missed his second 2. Handed my 2 Hodakas off to Throwchain for transport to HD15.
