Combat taillight

Post by michael_perrett »

Ed, What kind of taillight do you have on your Combat? I need a better one that what I have. Rick Mott keeps running into the back of me while trying to pass me at the Alleghney National Forest ride.

Michael-

I suggest the "rubber flap" style. Hod Dave offers one with a properly dinky tail light. You might also find one thru Western Power Sports or Parts Unlimited. Ed's bike is actually a Wombat, so he might have had fender holes your CW may lack. My 'White Bike" is set up like Ed's, with the 12V moose regulator. I don't have brake lite & doubt Ed does either, but - if you wanted to go to the trouble, there's plenty of juice.

Well, my bike is a Wombat . . . depending on which part of the bike you are looking at. ;)

With any luck, there is a photo above showing the tail light I've got. It does indeed have two bulbs, so brake light is an option. This particular set up came from my basement parts mine . . . but it was the last tail light in that particular ore vein.

I believe I have seen this same unit for sale currently. Bob's advice is most likely good to help locate one.

PS: Rick is running into your tail light when trying to pass? . . . or when you "prank" him by suddenly slowing down? ;)

Thanks gentlemen, I will check with the three sources for the lite. I installed the 12 volt conversion about two years ago. If I was in my right mind, I would install a strobe lite or a heavy bumper.

FYI, My tail light came from Tucker Rocky Distributors. Their part number is 201250. Tucker Rocky does not sell direct but almost any motorcycle shop would have an account with them.

So there is another option for one that is street legal in all 13 Colonies.

Mike,

If you would use all 5 gears I wouldn't be running into you. ;-)
About the tail light, I made my own. I used rubber sheet from McMaster Carr and a trailer light.
