Diamond Dons Vintage MX

Post by hodakamax »

Who all is going to be at Diamond Dons vintage AHRMA event in Jefferson Texas on April 16--19? Have any of you raced there before and what is the course like? (I'm getting allergic to rocks and mud in my old age.) I'm only 4 hours from there--might race (just one more time) or Eweleen and I might come and watch you guys (and gals) fly! Keep us posted--Thanks and maybe we will see you there!

We will be there with bells on. (The rig with 3 riders and 300 bikes)
You'll love it Max - track is real vintage - always both mud AND dust present, but set up nice for the vintage bikes.
Many folks find the cross country course fun - I've yet to find a cross country course fun, but manage to get through it every year anyway.
Big, wonderful crowd from all over - It's a party!
Well worth the drive, hope to see you there!
Laurie
P.S. Here's some footage from last year (not my video)

You gotta do it at least once. Great party (and a race too!)

Cool video with good music! I just finished watching a video from 2bros racing, clicked onto SH and saw this thread.I think the 2brothers racing vid was from 2012(?).He put in an impressive ride and his bike sounded really well tuned.

Thanks for posting the video, looks like a bunch of fun and at only 4 hours away I would go even if it where just to hang out.

Hi Guys and Gals. The 2Brothers VMX Racing Team will be at Diamond Don's in April. Come by and see our compound and say hi. This one of the Best Vintage Tracks we ride on. It is a event that you all have to put on your bucket list!!! We were the Vintage 100cc Champions in the Expert, Intermediate, Novice Classes on our Hodies. Laurie was the Womens Novice Class Champion and we had a 2nd Place finish in the 125cc Sportsman Novice and a 4th place finish ( out of 28 riders) in the 125cc Sportsman Intermediate class all on our Hodaka's. In cross-country we had a 1st in the 0-200cc Novice and a 5th in the 0-200cc Intermediate Sportsman Classes. Those Hodaka Dave powerplants were flawless!!!!! Max, not sure which video you watched on our page, but the one on the first part of the page is from 2014. Go to our face book page, 2Brothers VMX Racing, to see all our photo's and updates. Give our page a "like".

The track is very vintage friendly. Last year we had about 20 Hodakas show up. They usually get close to 300 vintage bikes entered for VMX. I'll be building and installing a clutch in an ACE 90 on Friday if anyone is interested in such things. :) I'm planning on riding the cross country and 100cc VMX.

Here is a video from 2008. Muddy good time! :o  8-)

Marty Tripes 100cc works revenge will be there.

2007 was a bit dryer than 2008, but not by much. I think some part of the track being muddy is a foregone conclusion every year at DD's.

But it is well worth the time and effort to attend!
