Carb cleaning time

Time to clean the carb on my Wombat and I just remembered what a PIA it is to loosen the right side nut without removing the pipe. Sometimes I can get it in baby steps turning the wrench one way, then the other, not this time. No socket will fit on. Any tips?

Boy can I relate. I cut my wrench down so i could get it to fit .

Good advice MTRob,
I took a wrench I found in my pond that was very rusty, looks like a Craftsman, no idea what size, filed it out to a 13mm, was close anyway, then about 1/3rd of the way up the handle I ground both sides about 3/16ths in. Works good, since the torque on the nut isn't much, it should handle the job. The rusty old thing is now a specialized tool.

Now the Carb, I found sediment in the bottom, brown, rust? I had cleaned the tank and have a inline filter. The cable itself has no dust boot on top of the carb which I am a little worried about too. But I'm guessing it is fine rust particles.

Update, just took a magnet to it, it's rust. Anybody know of a better filter than those clear, cone shaped ones?

I also worked in the marine industry for a few years. I found A good little filter thats looks like a space ship with top and bottom connections that works pretty good since they use it in boat engines. You can find it on Ebay

I picked up a set of stubby open end wrenches years ago, they come in handy for many hard to reach nuts and bolts. One of them just fits to loosen this nut you mentioned.

I have seen the stubbies for sale at Harbor Freight, maybe I'll pick some up thanks.

I also found a new filter I bought a while back, metal, cleanable-unscrews, porous stone like material, going to give it a try, will probably drain the carb before every ride.
