What a relief, 250 SL is fixed!

Post by BrittB »

Found out today that the reason I had to pass on riding my 250SL at the Bad Rock and the parade at Hodaka Days this year was not because of an airleak, it was because of a gunked up throttle! I'm happy I don't have to take my engine apart to fix the problem but I am bummed that the next Hodaka Days is 11 months from now!

Oh don't I know it! I'm saving it as a Hodaka Days only bike, just have to figure out how to get a title for it so I can plate it and ride it in the poker run.

How did the throttle gunk up? Assuming it's carb slide related, I wonder if the bike still has an intact air filter foam - they decompose and disintegrate as the years roll on.

Pre ride prep, good detailed go thru before the trip, and ride it before you load it to make sure it's gonna do what you want it to....

New air filter element was installed and I did ride it before the trip, it still happened. Lubed the cables and cleaned the throttle housing and handle bar area, now it works like new. It never had a problem up until that point but I suspect it had never been apart, wait til next year I guess!
