Hodaka's mud apron

Post by michael_perrett »

Hodaka's extensive use of mud aprons on their bikes, did Pabatco insist on these, or was it Hodaka's idea?

I like them. If they aren’t extremely brittle, they will take paint to match the frame if faded!

Victor, It seems to me it was like Clarence said, Pabatco, probably asked for something that kept Mud and etc out of the engine compartment, and the factory found an inexpensive way to do that to keep cost,s down. Yes its a material that does not last"forever", but at least on most of the Hodaka,s it was put on, it lasted or did its job for over 50+ years and still does. Bruce Young

Bruce, I agree! My statement with the picture was to show one that was in good enough shape to re-paint. I’ve had several which were excessively dry and cracked into pieces when trying to remove them. In those instances, you can just buy a re-pop from Terry and they work as good as the originals when they were new! :ugeek: Victor
