“Patina Rat”

Post by Makotosun »

A couple weeks ago, my office assistant said she had an old Hodaka in the garage she needed gone. She said it was pretty rusty and was I interested . . .

Last week we coordinated a pickup.

Motor is wrong and needs a rebuild. Correct motor is in the box and a worse basket case. But he is thinking of doing a “patina” build. Might drag it to HD19!

Today we did some cleaning and sorting. Motor side covers will be used. Changed out rear non-working shocks for some working but rusty ones. Cleaned the front fork sliders. 45 year old tires still holding pressure after a week. This has possibilities. The fuel tank may even clean up inside!

It would be kind of cool to have it look like that, but be in mechanical tip top shape so when you drove into an event/race people would think “ oh my” until you fired it up and it ran like a loud Swiss watch.

So Alex couldn’t leave the bike alone. . .

He dug through the parts pile and came up with everything but a chain. The motor is from his 68 Ace.

It will get a fender and some tires before HD 19!
