I did this mode back when I was 15. After wrecking a piston (long story) and eventually had aftermarket reeds and a 34mm mikuni. Crazy fast but went back to stock becuase it would overheat. Not really what that little 10hp piston port was ment to do.

Here's just a little historical fun-fact. The Alumaferric cylinder design detailed in the flyer you posted reminded me of this. The remarkable Hispano-Suiza 8A engine was the motor used to power the SPAD XIII biplane fighter (and others) during WWI. It was a V-8 engine with an aluminum monoblock that featured threaded, screw-in iron cylinder sleeves that both lightened the engine and allowed for a top end rebuild in a front line setting with basic tools and in very little time. There was a WWI pilot I had the privilege to meet from my hometown of Cedar Falls. His name was Charles R. D'Olive. He flew for the Lafayette Escadrille under the command of Eddie Rickenbacker against the Germans during WWI. In the early 1960's, after the identification of the wreckage of a German Fokker DVII he shot down in aerial combat, he was credited with his fifth aerial kill making him the last official fighter Ace of WWI. I have a copy of the citation, signed by Rickenbacker, and featuring a print of an oil painting of the duel that was signed to my brother and I by Mr. D'Olive amongst my most cherished possessions. OK - not an Hodaka posting, but a cool connection between an air superiority fighter of WWI and the Hodaka alumaferric cylinder.

I'm with you, Albert. Its impossible to measure the debt we owe all of the men and women who have worn the uniform of the United States Military - past, present, and future. Lest we forget...

I absolutely, positively NEVER EVER get tired of seeing the Captain's Windbreaker advertisement. I wish it was available as a poster.

Just curious, when and where was that famous "Windbreaker" picture taken? Also, this may be a dumb question, but what is that "Phoenix" patch about (Phoenix power for motorcycles)? Linc

Actually, the Phoenix name was a marketing/Trademark name used for the Fuji engines (not Hodaka engines).
