Wiring Harness for Hodakas

Post by MTRob »

I made wiring harness's 2 years ago. I listed them on eBay and always sold out. Made them for all 90's 100"s All Wombats with
turn signals and with out. Plus Dirt squirts also most all early models. But they are time consuming plus I got to busy. I want to know how many Hodaka owners would like me to start making them again. I used the right original ends, all wires were the correct gauge plus
color coded to match and the right length with the same rubber covering on the ends of the wires. You can't tell the different from
mine and the originals except mine are new. Let me know if any of you are interested in me making them again. Our ask Taber to get a hold of me.
Thanks

I'm sure there will be a call for plug and play wiring harness. Saves a lot of stress. You didn't mention a estimated cost.

For a proper repro harness, you will find a decent market at those price points!

Darn! I wish I would have know/heard/seen this earlier. I just forked out $30 for connectors and wire covering from http://www.vintageconnections.com. I need to do my kids Ace 100, including ignition. Oh well, maybe I'll save some headache by letting the kids do the brunt of the work.

Yes I understand I have 3 125 Wombats, 1 with the turn signels 1 Super Rat and a 63 ace 90. It drove me nuts on the wiring. But I know wiring from school so I made my own. Plus got all the schematics for most all Hodakas and can make them. Got all my ends from japan or china plus American wires. I'am really good at making them because I have done so many.
Thanks

Rob. Would have loved to see them for my Road Toads! I’ll remember for the future. If I had a supply of all the colors of wires, I could have made my own. Probably would have been worth it to go to an electrical supply to get them all.

One suggestion for the future. I would recommend using 14 gauge wire instead of 16 gauge like the originals. It will allow for a better flow of current and less drop in voltage along the harness with the heavier gauge wire! :ugeek: Victor

Hi guys & girls
Yes we use 16 or18 gauge wire on all the harness's. Stronger and works better.

To get things straight. We use the right size wire the was used on the Hodaka model. We also make the wires about 1/4 to 1/2 inch longer
to give a little more room, so you don't have a tight fit. Even the rubber covers over the ends is the same as original or real close.
Spent alot of time hunting down all the right wire ends, wires, covers and plugs to match our bikes. I will start making the 125 Wombat with out turn signals and 125 Wombat with turn signals first and then I'll go from there to other Hodaka models. Plus price's will be very reasonable.
Thanks

MTrob, I'm in! I would love to have three sets. Wombat, mod 94 , 2 sets (no signals) and one for a dirt squirt to run street legal lighting, no signals, mod 96. If you don't make them for the masses, I would still like to place and order, if your taking them.
Thanks, Dave.

MTRob,

I would like to have one for my Combat Wombat (model 95). I know it is a very simple one, but Mine has some really cobbled together wiring and it is missing it's kill switch all together. Let me know if this is possible.

Thanks,

I could use a Road Toad complete harness, I have an 01 Squirt that I'm converting to road legal so an 02 Toad harness should work good for that.

Vic had recommended maybe using 14 gauge wire. Just so you know, 14 is LARGER than 16. And 16 is LARGER than 18.

If you bring some of these to HD 18, I'm sure there would be interest in buying them..

Hi Rob, sorry it has taken me so long to respond. For now, I just need 2 sets for the Mod 94 Wombat, without signals. I will be at HD, can you bring them if you will be attending?
Thanks!

Mtrob,
Have you made a decision about making more of the harness?
I would be in for 3 Wombat 94s (no signals)
