ive looked and read and looked some more but with all the well read folks on here i have to ask.. the question is, can a ace 100 get spark to the plug with out a battery? i know im leaving something out in my question but there it is. im under the impression that you can ...albert

Yes the ace 100 will have spark without a battery.--------Clarence

Yes. To expand a little further. The ignition circuit and the Battery circuits are two isolated circuits and not dependent on the other. You can completely remove the lighting coil and it's associated wiring, to include the key switch and all the lights and still have a running bike...

This also means that it is very easy to "hotwire" a hodaka... just disconnect the black wire at the key switch and it will run. (you will have no way to shut it off unless you have nimble fingers and/or a kill switch though)

A Kill.Button is an essential addition to any Hodaka if not so equipped.
