Points interchangeability

Post by Makotosun »

Now that my sons Ace was retrieved from the thieves, we are back focused on his Combat Wombat project. (More updates soon on that thread!)

We needed some fresh points for the beast after the motor reassembly so my local shop had some in stock . . .

Yep - you read that right. He had points for a Combat Wombat in stock. I’ll let that sink in.

Turns out the Wombat points fit not only the road toads, but half a dozen of the early 79’s G-series Kawasaki’s. Fairly common. $7.95 on his shelf.

K&S still Markets them: # 08-0014

Kawasaki sells them as well, (21008-006) but the run about $35

Yes, SUDCO has them listed in their catalog as well and list a bunch of Kawasaki's and Suzuki's that they also fit (mostly early 80's, 90's, 100's 125's and a 250) The Suzuki part # is 32240-12020.

I recently installed Kawasaki points in my Wombat. After timing the bike the point gap works out to .016, but the spark at the plug is still good irregardless. Most likely the rubbing block is slightly taller on the Kawasaki units (?)
