97 clutch case
97 clutch case
Almost done on the restoration of a barn find model 97
Gettin a little desperate. I need a 97 clutch case but NADA.
I have a case from a oil injection model that bolts up but the clutch seem to jamb into the case.
Am I doing something wrong or is this just a lost cause ??
I'm hoping to enter it into a AHMRA event soon !!!!!

Re: 97 clutch case
It's my understanding that any one-piece clutch cover will fit any non oil-injected engine. I have noticed that there are two variants though, one that has the dipstick on top and the other has the dipstick on the side. I've also seen that the covers with the dipstick on top were used for the Ace 90, (97) SC and the (98) SR. If they are the same, they are plentiful to the point that you almost can't give them away.

They are the same in fit, I think with the 97 and 98 with the fact that the kick lever is straight the cover with the hole on top is used. The other models the kick levers are bent and clear the cover with hole one the side.

Did you check with Bruce Young? [email protected] Is his email address. Couldn't hurt to ask. And the Model 97 does use the top oil fill cap/dip stick. Victor

Yep this is a revelation.
Never figured why my 98 kick start hit the dipstick cap.
going to look for the right side cover now.......

Re: 97 clutch case
I believe only the early ace 90 filled on top. and as stated the 97,98.-----Clarence
