AHRMA Race Footage

Post by Pep »

Here’s a spliced up GoPro video from last weekend’s AHRMA race in Louisiana - what a blast!
2Brothers VMX brought some serious Hodaka rage to the race - enjoyed hanging out with all those great guys, and racing against Brian Miller and Todd Rapp. Lot’s of close racing - as Brian said, “It’s going to be a long season, girl”
The video is a mix of all my classes (different bikes) - mostly starts, some passes, and highlights. You’ll find the two Hodaka Super Combat Motos (Sportsman 125) in the middle, plus the 100cc class (with Brian on his 98 Rat).
Didn’t always remember to turn the GoPro on, so unfortunately did not capture the crash between Todd and I in the Post Vintage…
It will be on at Diamond Don’s!

great stuff, thx Laurie. Wow, you must be one tough, um, lady. Lotsa classes, lotsa motos... plus terrific finishes. I had a Penton 125 "back in the day" so, yeah, I remember shifting. Wonderful handling, went like the wind and had five gears with five neutrals!

Love it! Thanks for posting! Looks like a nice track. Wanted to attend, but couldn't make it happen. Your 97 sounds like it's running good!

Brian bailed me out at an event when my shifter cover broke. Brian and the rest of their crew are good guys.

Haven't been on a bike since October. 38 days till Diamond Don's! 8-)

Thanks guys - yes, the track was killer good - great traction, good flow - put this one on your schedule if you can make it next time.
Can't say enough good things about the 2Brothers guys - what nice folks, and wow their bikes are sweet!
Mark, the SC ran great - I don't do myself a lot of favors swapping between big and small bikes all day, but I do look forward to finding a groove on that bike this season (or at least getting a holeshot the way Brian can - wow!)
Speaking of shift covers - I blew the SC cover off at a race the weekend before - screws backed out during the first lap, started missing shifts (which is just about impossible on a Hodie) - after a lot of abuse, the poor cover finally rocked completely off the case, held by one bent screw. I tacked it on and had it shifting good enough to finish the second moto. But last week I had to deal with the carnage: bent tranny control shaft, wallered-out shift shaft bore, a loose shift arm...
Swapped the control shaft out for a straight one on the shelf, stole a good shift cover off another bike, and in a couple of hours the SC was back in business and ready for LA.
My point is that you should ALWAYS have extra Hodakas at home or in the trailer (and maybe tighten down your cover screws after the practice laps).
Mark, see you at Diamond Don's - will you be in the Cross Country?

I almost always bring at least 2 Hodakas. That time I only had one. :o

This bike in FL kept 2 Hodakas and an Ossa on the track! 8-)

Yes I am planning on the Cross Country. Probably on the 100. Suppose to warm up above freezing this weekend! Gonna dig the bikes out and start prepping them.

Nice video Laurie, very entertaining! Still have feet of snow and it was 10 below zero here in Vermont this morning. It will be quite a while before we can even think of riding here. :( It was fun riding on video with you though.

Thanks Ed! Or I should say...Bullfrog #1
A smart person would focus on one bike, or at least one brand for goodness' sake, but what's the sport in that?
One thing I can count on: the Hodakas ALWAYS start, ALWAYS shift, and ALWAYS finish...maybe that's why all the Hodaka riders are so mellow and cool to be around at races...
