Dirt Squirt VIN Verification Help

Post by Wrencher26 »

I picked up what was said to me a 1969 dirt Squirt 100. On one of my previous posts, "1969 Dirt Squirt Electrical Help", Brian had mentioned that my numbers may actually be a later model. Below are the numbers if anyone has any insight here:

Frame: E07083
Engine: P69551

In referencing from the site here, it's a Model 96??? There is no Frame Tag on the steering head, but there's two small holes as evidence where it once was. I am gonna have previous owner do a Bill od Sale, but want to make sure I get all the ID right before hand. Hopefully it's matching numbers, but if not, no biggie. I'll get a few photos up here eventually that may help as well.

Thanks for everything thus far AND on my electrical snafu, ha!

The chrome tank Dirt Squirts were manufactured in 1973 and January of 1974 only. Your model is a chrome tank Dirt Squirt (96) yes.
I hope this helps

Much appreciated Paul. Was there a manufacturing sequence for the numbering system, to know where they stopped before they rolled over to next year? Or somewhere I could do some more research?

Currently no there is not but...... a shameless plug the forthcoming Hodaka book by Ken due out this June. Several of us have done extremely extensive research on the models and production numbers. Things I had previously thought to be correct turned out to be not true. Things that had been previously printed on PABATCO letterhead turned out to be not true. We all learned a lot about the brand, models and people who made this all happen. There are some errors in my current Hodaka ID page. My page was copied directly from PABATCO paperwork but we find out now some of it is incomplete or wrong.
Justin I will be modifying my ID page once the new Hodaka book has been released but not prior to that release. So for now please bear with us a few more months. We have done all the research for you which will be in the Hodaka book.Heck we have waited fifty years what is another couple months :-)
Thank you

Paul,

Great info and thank you for your time and insight. I really appreciate it. As for the book to be released in June, can we pre-order? I would definately be interested in one if they are still availible.

Here Justin is the bulk email we sent out this morning. We have only a few days left of the pre-sale special for discounted prices. The sale ends Sunday but we will still be selling the books after Sunday at the MSRP prices that the publisher has requested us to sell the books at. Ken and I are giving the Hodaka faithful "special" discount on our own...
