100 Dirt Squirt Cylinder/ACE 100 Cylinder Differences

Post by shunt »

I have a Dirt Squirt (100) that I have acquired a second hand ACE 100 Cylinder (with a standard bore) for, to replace the current Cylinder (which I have nipped up [seized]) which is on it's 3rd oversize already. Visually and via some basic measurement I can't see any major differences between the Dirt Squirt and Ace cylinders but the transfer Ports do look smaller on the ACE cylinder, is this the case and is there any other issues that I am going to come up against in using an ACE 100 cylinder on my Dirt Squirt crankcases. The Dirt Squirt Cylinder has +6 stamped on it and the Ace Cylinder has 65 stamped on it, with both Cylinders these stampings are on the Head Gasket face.

According to the parts lists, both the Ace 100 and Dirt Squirt use the same cylinder P/N 922505.

Okay, I have noticed that there is a difference. The Dirt Squirt cylinder has holes drilled in the third lowest cylinder fin for the exhaust pipe springs. It's odd that Hodaka didn't give the Dirt Squirt cylinder a different part number.

Thanks for the info Brian, I didn't notice the missing holes for the exhaust spring when I was doing my original visual comparison but just ducked out to the shed for a look then and you are, right.
