1955 Harley Davidson 125cc "Hummer" just shattered the existing World Record by 24 MPH . That is over 75% faster than the previous WR MPH.
Using stock (era correct) components keeps the speed near the same as the current WR Speed.
Altering the engine internals ONLY (since you can't change ANY externals) allows for a 75% increase in speed.
Something to think about when installing period correct components in your engine..
Food for thought anyway

Kels,
I am not questioning your premise but maybe your math. If a 24 MPH increase was a 75% increase does that mean that the previous world record was 32 MPH? ...and the new world record is 56 MPH which would be a 75% increase? Just asking.

That is correct

Wow... I had to look up a Harley "Hummer" to truly appreciate what Kels said. Admittedly, I was a bit perplexed by his math too. But after looking it up, now I understand. Small 2-stroke engine, very heavy bike.
Re: ERA correct components can be improved upon
I think 24 mph was about top speed for the Hummer I had back in the day...
