Help Storing Bikes

I need some advice on storing 2 Hodakas for a long time. I have my 1973 94A Wombat which was in last years calendar August. I restored it from ground up. Plus my 1963 Ace 90 restored it also. I have a large garage and going to place them up on the wall for show. I know what to do about the tank, carburetor, but don't quite know what to do with the battery and the gear oil. I bought extra batteries for both new in the box to place next to them just in case they are brought down and want to ride them (After Iam dead) But the gear oil has me baffled. Any advice?

I would not worry about the gear oil, I would oil the cables. I would take the batteries out as they can corrode. And I would install one of my clutch savers it keeps the clutch plates from sticking. they have been selling like hotcakes. -----Clarence

Clutch savers are you kidding. send me that make belief saver. I want one. On the gear oil what should I do? empty it, put in fresh oil what? Taber how we doing on that engine?

Rob send me the address and I will get the clutch saver in the mail really quick. Had the grand kids from Alaska built them a little moto track. I am cleaning my work area this week doing a little sorting and will be on the engine. We need rain..

Rob I would change the oil just in case there is any moisture in there. My clutch savers, I will give you two for the price of one because you will be storing two for some time.-----------Clarence

PS: I'm imagining a timer controlling a geared electric motor do-hickey which activates the clutch half a dozen times every other month . . . along with a small pump and spray nozzle which picks up gear oil and sprays it on the clutch during the clutch activations cycles. I'm at a loss as to how the clutch saver system could be sent out for free. Installation only takes a day and half - 120V power required.

Clarence better send 4 don't want to take any chances. You got my address. Got my grand Kids from Austin TX. Ava 6, Aiden 7 keeping Grandpaw busy riding the ATV's all over the place. Great living in the Montana mountains. Clarence no hurry on the engine someting this winter. Now serious Guys about the tranny fluid what should I do/

Hey guys I am serious about what to put in my tranny for long term storage, do I empty it, put new oil in it What? Also after I empty the tank and make sure it is dry should I put something in the tank ? Taber Hijacked my tread with clutch savers and everybody thought it was a joke. Please give some advice.

I fill the empty (steel) gas tank with diesel. The gas tank will not rust and the diesel does not evaporate. I use ATF in the transmission. I leave it in the base.

On steel tanks, I dry them, then rinse with premix to leave an oil film. I put the gas cap in an old sock and loosely stuff the 'tail' of the sock into the filler opening so the cap is handy and the tank can breathe a little to avoid condensation. This has worked for me for many years.

Thanks for the advice. The tanks are the original chrome tanks and have been cleaned out and kreemed for protection. I think that if the bikes sit after I empty the oil out of the tranny there will be oil still on the clutch, so every once in awhile I can open and close the clutch just so it doesn't get stuck. What do you think? Right now I am working on a 1972 Super Rat 93B and have everything I think, I need a rear fender original. I also have
2- 94 Wombats for parts they are almost complete if anybody wants to trade. Found 4 bikes in Montana and bought them all. I will trade and not step on Paul. Please let me know if you need anything. Wombat 94"s
