Second Kick Cycle Works
Second Kick Cycle Works
A great discovery today traveling through the city of Grove located in NE Oklahoma. Low and behold, a motorcycle museum complete with Deli and a great collection of Vintage and Antique specimens. It was four minutes after closing time and a nice lady was just locking up. When she saw that we were saddened by our near miss with motorcycle history she cheerfully invited us in for a great personal guided tour. The nice lady was non other than the owner Jim Serage's wife.
Treasures were everywhere. Several Hodakas both stock and racing modified drew my attention first. Having been a Hodaka and Maico dealer from the past, I quickly gravitated to the nice Maico collection. Then off to great examples of American flat tracking and a cool Jawa speedway machine. Too much to relate now but here's a few shots from the Second Kick Cycle Works Museum.

PS--I'll try to post more tomorrow!

Max-
Great find! Wish I'd known about it when I was In OK last year. Any chance you could do an article on it for the Resonator? It really should be shared with our larger group, so folks know it is there and can visit.

PS--I'd sure like to take that Jawa out for a few hot laps!

Here's one I'd never seen or even heard of. What a weird engine design. How'd you like to to have to reed valve this one?
Re: Second Kick Cycle Works
Yup. Puch made a ton of these and they were sold as Allstates by Sears. Very cool part of motorcycling in the '60's!

It seems like all of those Allstates smoked enough to keep all mosquitoes at bay...........
Re: Second Kick Cycle Works
OK, now I do vaguely remember those things from the 60s. I was young then and cars, girls and real motorcycles had filled my brain. Thanks for jogging my memory. At that time as I recall, you had to order them from the Sears catalog.

Had a couple of these way back when. They were called twingles and had a distinctive sound.
