Victor,
I would recommend that you stick with an NGK B8 plug for the Ace. The B8HS is indeed a longer plug and should not be used with a stock head set up. You can download the NGK spec sheets and it will explain the different designations. For example, the H in the B8HS stands for 1/2 inch thread reach. The B8 plug on the other hand is a 3/8 inch thread reach. As for the Champion plug, I would toss it in the trash (just my opinion of course)...

Dale. I planned on tossing the Champion plug. My question was more about size than anything else. I was going to look up the OEM size in the shop manual I received in the mail! Thanks for saving me some time! The book says the B7 is STD and the B8 is cooler. Should I run the 7 or the 8? ; D Victor

The standard plug for the Ace 100 is the B8 or B8S. The S just denotes "standard center electrode". The B7 or B7S is the standard plug for the Ace 90. Going a step hotter or colder from these is up to the individual bike and riding conditions. Personally, the B8S has always done just fine in my Ace 100 and the B7S the same in my Ace 90 for normal (non-racing) conditions.

Went to my local Oriley's Auto Parts. They didn't have the NGK B8S in stock but said he would have them for me by 8 am tomorrow. Ordered 4 to start! I love that they are so customer oriented! ; D Victor

Finally! A real progress report! Installed the perches and levers. Installed the new clutch cover gasket. Foot peg assembly and brake lever are on. Motor is in the frame and the exhaust is mounted. Horn & coil assembly mounted. Rear brake retainer & rod assembly in place. Battery mount in place but I need new bolts for it.

I think I am ready to start installing the wiring harness. I'm gonna go ahead and paint the headlight bucket since I'll be pulling the forks back down to install the new steering head bearings. I was short a bearing on each level. Once the wire harness is in place I will try a bit of fuel and give her a kick start or two. Still need to put oil in her, buy a battery, and a 20mm K&N air filter to strap on the back of the carb. Then cables for the front brake and clutch, buff and polish the tank and fenders and button her up!

Question. I actually received an OEM rear fender skirt for her but I'm not sure which way it goes on. Is it single snap up or down, and does it just snap around the rear frame tubes? And do the yellow snap tops face front or rear? I'm assuming the vinyl side faces the rear wheel?

Getting closer! ; D Victor

OK. Got the wiring harness on and mostly connected. But where do I put all the wiring? Does anyone have a photo of how the wiring is tucked/gathered around the frame? It would sure help! Cause there's a lot of it!

Also, I don't have that little red plastic cover which goes over the left side of the battery box. What goes under that? ; D Victor

OK! Thanks to some photos from Joey Ralls over on the Facebook Hodaka Fan Club Page, I figured out those two huge loops of wire were, for some reason, added in by a PO! Technically there is about 4 feet of extra wire spliced in! Can't figure out why this was done, but now my goal will be to trim out the excess, solder the connections together properly and add some heat shrink tubing to it to get rid of all the extra wire which isn't needed! It looks like all or most of the connectors are there, so its just going to be cut, trim, twist and solder and heat shrink until all the excess is gone. Shouldn't take more than a couple of hours, a good sized tube of solder, some butane for my pencil torch and a whole lot of heat shrink! Here's what it should look like and what mine looks like now! It just keeps on getting more and more interesting! ; D Victor

Most of the pictures on this post are upside down. It drives me crazy as I have to save them to my computer and open them up with my photo editor and turn them over to see them . Has anyone figured what is causing this? Maybe the phone or camera is being held upside when taking the pictures.

How about an experiment by Vic? Vic, you have a "normal" way of shooting your photos - how about rotating the camera 180 degrees and shooting one and posting it? The experiment might reveal something useful.

So mayhaps we could find out whether the photos would be right-side-up for Bill and myself, and up-side-down for you Rusty. Wouldn't that be hoot? I have no idea what we'd do then.

Another variable to consider is the internet browser that you use to access the forum. If I use Microsoft IE the posted pictures are upside down regardless. If I use Chrome, the picture is initially displayed upside down, but is correct when I select it.

It should also be noted that the picture that Victor posted, that was not taken with his camera, displays correctly.

I think it's something with the web software. If I use my iPhone and set it on square photo and hold the phone in the vertical position, it always turns the photo. Just a thought. All the pics I post are shot correctly with my iPhone in the horizontal or vertical positions. I don't turn the camera over by accident.

But here's a test photo as requested by Ed. I intentionally inverted the phone and shot the image in what I would consider the upside down position. This is a quarter turn to the left from the vertical position instead of a quarter turn to the right, blue man on TV screen. Let me know what happens. The second one with Mark Walburg on the TV screen is shot the way I normally shoot with my iPhone. When I view them before I post they are both right side up in the preview. ; D Victor

I found some interesting web info on this. Seems the Apple products are "gravity based," so you can't take an upside down photo. It could be a possible difference between the iPhone IOS & Microsoft's OS for web based use. Probably done intentionally. I saw the same problem when I submitted photos of the Wombat to the owner bike page of the forum. When I looked at it with my phone, the photos were upside down. When I looked at it with my laptop, everything was fine. So it's probably a competition thing between MS and iProducts. ; D Victor

Good to know Ed. I'll start shooting the wrong way so it will be right on this forum alone. Don't have this issue with other forums. Everyone else knows right side up from upside down. ; D Victor

My experience: With Internet Explorer the top picture is upside down whether I enlarge it or not. The bottom blue screen picture is upright small or large. With Chrome the top picture is upside down small and right side up if I enlarge it. The bottom picture is upright small or large.

When I save the top picture (from Chrome) to my computer and open them with Microsoft Office Picture Manager the large and small file both open upside down even though the large one is showing right side up in Chrome,

Bill. It has to be the differences between the Apple IOS and IBM clone based Software. When I look at everything with my iPhone, nothing is ever upside down. Not mine, not other people's pics.

OK! I got some pics from a fellow on the Facebook Hodaka Fan Club. My wiring looked like the first photo and I couldn't figure out where to hide the wiring! After seeing some pics, I could tell the wiring wasn't repaired, it had 2, 2 foot loops added to it. So I got busy with my wire strippers and brought the wire lengths back down to where it should be, as seen in the second photo. Now I can move onward! ; D Victor
