Re: NGK B8HS discontinued

I use An Autolite XS4092DP as a replacement for B8HS. The plug is a fine wire center electrode non resistor. I use it as a replacement for the B8S also but with two copper sealing washers in place to correct for reach. It is more expensive than a standard plug but I have run one (and only one) in my...

Re: NGK vs Champion

I use an Autolite XS4092DP in my model 96 dirt squirt. Its a fine wire equivalent to an NGK B8HS. I use two copper washers under it to correct for reach. I built the engine about five years ago, it has a PVL ignition and a new 22mm Mikuni. Bike has about 40 to 50 hrs. Most riding is low RPM tight tr...

Re: Expander Ring part #922715

I have put them in and left them out. From what I have read their purpose is to keep the noise down from piston slap.
I built a model 96 about 5 years ago and left the expander out of it. I have about 40 hours on it, always starts and runs right.

Re: lousy customer service

Racing motocross in the seventies. Transmission breaks, need two gears and a shift fork. Call dealer long distance, 12 min on hold. Parts not in stock must pay for parts to order. Drive to dealer (in another county), order parts. Seven to ten days later dealer calls, parts are in. Drive to dealer (i...

Re: Help with Clutch issue?

Iam not suggesting pushing to speed in first gear. Push the bike IN NEUTRAL to the speed the bike would be moving if it were running just above idle in first gear (trying to match the speed of just above idle in first gear). Then hop on, pull in the clutch and shift from neutral to first. Now you ar...

Re: Help with Clutch issue?

I have found this to be a problem with a lot of old bikes that have been sitting for a while. If the plates are just stuck the following procedure will usually free them. Start the engine and warm it up. Push the bike up to just above the speed of what idle would be in first gear. Hop on the bike, q...

Dirt Squirt model 96 tank.

I have a 1973 Dirt Squirt that needs a tank. The proper part per the parts manual is 959000. What is the difference between A 959000 and a 949000 tank? Will another tank mount on this bike?
Thanks
