I'm running the Cheng Shin 4.10-18 on my CW. It says 4.10 but it's really a 3.50. No clearance problems.

Re: Hodaka Days Play Day?
Thank you everyone. I have decided to go with Greg and Dale's idea. The plan is to pay my entry fee and the AMA fee, but Not sign up for any races. This way, I can ride practice. Larry S

Hodaka Days Play Day?
Why can't there be a "Play Day" for the riders who have no interest in racing but still like to play in the dirt? I know this comes up every Hodaka Days and the racers always win. There needs to be a middle ground. Maybe an extended "practice" before the racing starts. I'm 80. My...

I almost NEVER post. I do so when I feel I have something to contribute. I like to post when I'm doing a new build/restoration. I monitor FB but don't post on the site.. There is so much bullshit there.

Re: what is the fork angle for a pure road bike ?
Google is your friend. I went on line and asked, "What is the fork angle for a Harley-Davidson Street Glide?" and went down a rabbit hole. It seems 29.25 degrees is the preferred angle. I run 29 degrees on my Super Rat and C.W. but I thought a road bike would be different. To get the front...

I'm bummed - I can't make Hodaka Days
A family emergency requires that I stay close to home for the next couple of weeks. I've done the Bad Rock. I've done the Diamond Eye scrambles. What bums me out is the Poker Run. I rebuilt my Ace 100B into a pure road bike. I was really looking forward to riding with Phil Palmer, Jim Stein and othe...

Re: The ACE 125 R is evolving
Hi Matt - I'm not interested in clip-ons as I want to maintain a comfortable riding position, but I did lower the front one inch. It is still a bit high. To get it looking good, I need to lower it one more inch - but now, things start to get complicated. I have a handle bar-fork tube clearance probl...

Re: The ACE 125 R is evolving
Hi Al- The pipe originally was a Bassani high pipe. I wanted a low pipe for my project so I cut it up and remade it as a low pipe. The first three inches are the original Wombat pipe. The next three inches are exhaust tubing. The rest is the Bassani pipe I cut into wedges and re-welded to get the sh...

The ACE 125 R is evolving
I have four Hodakas. Three are serious dirt bikes. I wanted a serious road bike. My road bike started life as a 1970 ACE 100 B. The engine, wheels and air cleaner are '94 Wombats. The seat and fairing are generic cafe racer. I'm not finished. It is still evolving.

Re: Torque that clutch nut !!!
The safety wire was pristine. After I removed it, I easily backed out what was left of the clutch screws.
After some clean up and polishing with the Dremel I think I can salvage the hub and cover.

Re: Torque that cllutch nut 1 ! !
What I think happened - the clutch nut came off. My grandson rode it until it wouldn't go any further.
He is young, and had never ridden a two-stroke. The engine could grenade under him and he wouldn't know.

No. When I rebuilt this engine I also rebuilt the clutch with new metal and fiber discs from Terry. The screws were safety wired.

The clutch nut is striped. I think it happened while it was coming off. It was new when it went on.

Torque that clutch nut !!!
My grandson and I went for a ride. I had him on my CW and I was riding my SR. Half way through the ride, the clutch on the CW went out. Grandson was upset that he broke my bike. I assured him that he didn't break anything - he was just riding it when it broke. The next day, I pulled the clutch case ...

Re: Zinc plating kits…
I use zinc roof flashing. It's 99% zinc and comes in a 3 inch wide roll. I use my shop scissors to cut off strips. 1 strip for small projects. 2 strips for larger projects, 180 degrees apart. 4 strips for large projects, 90 degrees apart.

Re: Zinc plating kits…
Victor- For what you want to do I think you would be wasting your money on a zinc plating kit. Plating kits will only plate small stuff. You want to replate a sprocket. A zinc plating kit won't do that. If you want to get into zinc plating, I would recommend you watch a gazillion Youtube videos. The...

Re: DIY zinc plating. Any success?
I have been doing my own zinc plating for a few years now and I have learned a couple of things. The only problem I can see with what you are doing is the electrolyte. I use straight white vinegar that has been ionized. To ionize the vinegar, pour one gallon of white vinegar into your plating tank. ...
