Mock up so far: IMG_6026.jpg I'll put the two remaining seals in and set this aside to work on the clutch, piston, magneto, and side cases. Dale; These are the cases I got from you. Internals and intake from my spare engine. It's looking like I may have enough spare parts to build an F-code engine a...

Re: Super Rat Rescue: Round 2
Been absent for a while since my wife decided the Home Remodel was more important than 2-stroke smoke. (And I also got distracted with a 'new-to-me' 73 Yamaha RD250). In the meantime, I've finally gathered all missing parts. The final piece was a Kill Switch (thanks Dan Killian). I even stumbled on ...

Re: Ace engine numbers
You have to look at the change logs to extrapolate the manufacture year. Every time Hodaka made a change in manufacturing, they logged the beginning engine and frame numbers that that change applied. You can find these change logs in the front of most workshop manuals. $0.02 Roger Note: As Ed said, ...

Re: Wiring Harness Question…
it means that when the Emergency switch is activated, (BN to R), that is the wire that supplies DC power to those items that are normally powered by the AC side. That specific wire does not actually exist in the harness but illustrates what is happening inside the Emergency switch itself. $0.02 Roger

save yourself some time and grief. I wrote those articles Dale mentioned above and I can tell you that the Honda CT90/110 bulb is the way to go. You can purchase aftermarket replacements for the Honda bulb at DRATV.com part# 400019. or you can find them on eBay. (the black housing is not included) d...

Re: My Ace 125 R
I have a raised exhaust port by 2mm (to 28mm from top, I think) and the pipe is a CPI Racing custom pipe that I had made. I'll have to double check my drive sprocket. I must be mistaken, it has been a couple years since I installed it. 60mph in 4th seems right, but I still have plenty of power in 5t...

Re: My Ace 125 R
Here's my Ace 125. 125 cc wombat engine with minor exhaust porting, and a modern 28mm carb. Built on a 1966 Ace 90 Chassis. No modifications other than marrying a 94 key switch to the Ace 90 harness. Using a 14t front and the Ace overlay sprocket, it performs well and gets in excess 55 mph easily. I...

Re: Look what I found!!!
I don't mean to be a stickler, but the flame thrower end of a Wombat is not the same. The flame thrower end from a Ace 100B+ would be the correct end to use. The Wombat pipe features a "flat" end where the Ace100B+ features an angled cut. Although a Wombat end will work, the B+ is the corr...

Re: Seat pan repair....
Hi Victor, I did a Resonator article with my seat pan a few years ago. I think it might be best to start there because it will help you understand what I'm talking about if you have more questions or want to tackle it. It's quite easy. The upholstery clips are the clips I mentioned above. I made the...

Victor, Are you any good with Fiberglass? Seatpan.png The marks /divots you see on top are because I pulled it from the mold too soon. Other wise it's a perfect copy. 3/16" thick of alternating cloth and matte fiberglass. The matte gives it substance, the cloth gives it strength. I used the bra...

The two bottom photos: The toolbox brace at "A" identifies this as the smaller Ace frame. The Swingarm Frame gusset at "B" further identifies this as a 93B frame. Only the 93B had this reinforced frame. All Ace90, Ace100, 93 and 93A's had a smaller gusset in this area. 93B ID.png...

Re: Look what I found!!!
I see a 4 bolt intake manifold and dimpled cylinder fins. Dimples in the cylinder fins make it a SR cylinder. The head is also correctly oversized. It’s a 93B Super Rat evidenced by the larger frame gussets. The pipe was horribly cut off. If you have a damaged 92B+ pipe, remove the flame thrower end...

I've adapted the powerdynamo AC units for headlights. You'll have to sitch to 2 position key switch,( 02 Road toad and 03 Wombat), and change all lights to 12v. This is a "lights-on always" solution. The DC version can be adapted also, but you have to find room for a 12v battery. $0.02 Roger

if you wish to make a nearly undetectable mod to your trim ring, you can use the lens/reflector from a Honda CT90/100/110. Then, you can purchase 6v 35/35w bulbs at dratv.com. You can also use the Octane Lighting lens reflector and use halogen bulbs which are also available from Octane Lighting. I u...

The wire diagram in the manual is for the model 94A. remove all the signal light wiring and you have the diagram for the Model 94. I already did this for you. Wait a minute... if it has a coil mount, it cannot be an Ace90 frame. It would be an Ace100 frame. I didn't think that someone would have cut off the mounting brackets for the seat.. silly me...
I'll go hide in my Hodaka shed now...

Re: Hodaka ID help
It's an Ace 90 frame.
evidenced by the location of the toolbox mount brackets under the seat and the absence of seat mounting brackets which are normally seen through the "big hole" above the extra shock mount. (Ace 90 and Ace 100 seats had different rear mounting brackets.)

Re: Reason for speedometer bulbs burning out?
The VR is attached to the green wire from the key switch, you may have to change one of the connectors to a male type. The green wire from the key switch travels all the way to the emergency switch inside the headlight bucket. You can attach the VR anywhere along this wire. Then. make sure you groun...

Re: Super rat left case half needed
Interesting, perhaps ALL 93's and early 93A's used the roller bearing? I think Clarence or Max would know for sure. But I think you would still be within period correct if you used a case half with a main shaft bushing as long as your decks matched. If you're not in a hurry, I may have the case half...

Re: Super rat left case half needed
I’ve built 3 Super Rats and have another in a box waiting for me. I’ve also seen many cases. what I found is that only the early SR’s used a roller bearing on the main shaft. Interestingly, it seems these early cases were the first to have the large cylinder deck. Later SR’s reverted to a bushing. T...
